Last year either. There's an Old Timer's Day. Just no game. September 9 this year. They're just doing introductions

I don't blame Boone nor did I give him any credit. It's the players. He went from having 100 wins seasons to having an under .500 record these last 200 games. Even with a good analytics team the players need to perform. Or did they give Boone more managing power these last 200 games and this it the result? I doubt it because from what I've heard the analytics people think they're right and this is the way

That's really his main job. Talking to the media. That's why they had the 13 hour interview?

The optimism is what they wanted from him. They didn't like Joe Girardi's negativity at times, especially when he criticized Gary Sanchez in Aug. 2017 in Cleveland but man they would have hated Terry Collins who had way more reasons to give criticism when he managed the Mets.

1966 team - jeez they had just won 5 straight pennants 1960-64. That's some extreme fair-weather fanning.

They were unable to fill the seats, which was a shame. On September 22, 1966, when the New York Yankees played the Chicago White Sox, only 413 people paid to be there. Seeing only 413 people in a stadium that seats 65,000 was very discouraging, and it might have been a good way to describe the whole 1966 season.

It always amazes me how stadiums in New York still get filled with the costs. If you drive to Yankee Stadium, it's 47 in the main garage across the street and 40 to park for a Mets game.
a few weeks ago I brought my son to a Yanks game and couldn't believe that parking was $47! Don't forgot parkway, turnpike and gwb tolls.  It's definitely an expensive stadium to go to.  After that game we agreed to go to one game a year, next year I might take the train in. I just hate driving in the city, not fun.
They aren't my team but Philly is so easy to get in and out of.
Wife and I decided instead of going to Yankee Stadium for a game or 2 each season we were going to start going to road games to see the other parks.

I'm sure he internally thinks some of the things he's saying sound odd or absurd. At this point he's the buffer between the dugout and the front office and seems willing to take the hits for now.

last time they were .500 this late was 1995. don't think they're capable of going 19-5 in a 24-game span which would take them to 79-65.

All accurate, except for the historically bad part. 1990 is historically bad. It's historically bad in the context of what the seasons have looked like since 1992 but not historically bad unless they somehow lose at least 30 of their final 42 games.

Well, I guess historically bad is relative and so would be correct.....buuuuuut.  boo-hoo for Yankees fans.  Your team is below around .500 late in the year and people are freaking out.
Many teams in the league are thrilled to be around .500 late in the year.

"The haves have not a fucking clue"

I do like rooting for them sometimes but the fan base is clearly spoiled.
(And, yes, I wish the team I rooted for had this track record and spoiled me like this!!)
The love he receives is the love that is saved
