  • I thought it was cool, they cut right to the chase, it pretty much already feels like the later half of the original.

I liked it. Never saw the original...it was a miniseries, right?

I liked it so far.. It was a mini series, it has been on for the last few days.

I do like how they got right into it. Special effects are better already and I like how they make them all talk normal. In the original they had like a synth voice. I like how you can't tell who is who in this, makes it a little more interesting.

It was alright but not great. I'll give it a few eps to see if it improves. I liked the original miniseries and saw most of it again Sunday on the Sci FI Channel.

I never watched the original. This seemed OK, good special effects. I'll give it a few episodes, see what develops.

It started off as a mini series but got high enough ratings the network made a series out of it. I was like 10 at the time and a huge fan. But the full series got really lame really fast. I know, it's hard to imagine a Marc Singer vehicle not being top notch, but...
  • wasn't Robert England (Freddy Kreuger) in the original V? I remember watching a couple episodes. my brother and I had V walkie talkies. :D I'll have to check out this new one sometime.

Yes he was some of the dumb good aliens, he had a son with a "normal" woman ;)

good to know. sounds like me and my husband and our son  me being the dumb alien of course.

I should try and get the original V series for my brother, and then the new series when they release the first season. That would be a great Christmas gift.

It stays true to its cheesy acting roots. With the exception of some CG effects, not a whole lot of difference.

  • I'm assuming the blond FBI actress is no longer on LOST? I didn't really watch that show and I don't know what happened to her character so that may be a stupid question. Or, she may be doing both shows. Don't really know.
  • I found it a little hard to believe that humans kids would be going up on some alien spacecraft after only a few days of it being around. I know how insane and picky this sounds because I was able to accept the fact that the whole alien scenario was even possible. But the government allowing people on an alien space craft ! Ridiculous.

I'm going to give it a few weeks. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it.

She's supposed to be on a few more episodes. I was reading an interview yesterday where she said that she thought she was done with Lost and they'd even all said goodbye and everything, then the producers told her they wanted her in a few episodes this season.

Watching V, I was having trouble thinking of her as a different character. I guess I've watched too much Lost.

I can't believe I watched this ... granted, I just flew home and I'm sick, so, maybe I was lightheaded, maybe I wanted to relive my youth (not that I really liked it the first time) but I watched it ... and, this was bad.

Horrible over the top acting ... the interaction between the FBI agent and her son, sooooo sarcastic ... just awful.

Some over the top symbolism ... really, did you have to make the huge crucifix in the church fall and smash in a millions pieces for us to get that the religious belief system would be in disarray?

Some huge leap of faith beliefs need to be made ... what, our space program wouldn't pick these ships up until they were in our atmosphere?

They just made everything too obvious. Maybe that's what TV is these days, dumbed down for the common viewer, I don't watch much TV ... and this show had tons of reasons why.

I thought it was pretty good as tv goes. This is the first full hour of tv drama I've watched in YEARS - pretty much by fluke. I was a fan of the original as a kid, but barely remember it.

I dont' know if all of the syndicated stations carry the same commercials...but I noticed that as soon as it was revealed that there were V's living amongst humans for years, and evil terrorist V's plotting against humanity, they cut to an ad for the movie 2012. the timing struck me....one of the most out-there theories about 2012 is very similar to the V plotline...
I've always thought 2012 will be hyped huge as it draws closer....If this show catches on, and the 2012 movie does well, the build up to solstice 2012 will make y2k look like childs play.

So I guess you didn't like it?

The original was great, but to watch it nowadays (the original, I mean) you'd see that it wasn't so great, lol

Agree with jimed14. Way too many plot holes and ridiculous concepts. Also, too fast. I liked the original series when I was a kid and that one spent a long time developing characters and situations that this version just glossed over.

    One thing I didnt' understand...
They haven't told us why we should be suspicious of the V's, nor given us any reason that there would be 'evil terrorist' V's. Did I miss something? Have they come for ALL of our water? To enslave us?

They are for peace, always. They are curing diseases and giving us rides on their space ships, ffs.
Yet there is a resistance, and evil V's that want the resistance stopped....why?
    Are we resisting devotion? :?

    **SPOILER ALERT**

Thank you for mentioning the over the top symbolism! I about died when it was revealed that the black guy was indeed an alien. Therefore a double agent. Probably his birth certificate is also from Kenya.

As a geek myself, I was offended (not really :D ) that they went with the stereotypical "geek" fat kid as their go-to for that character.

I hope we'll get some back story on the birth of the resistance, but I agree everything was done too fast. I loved the build up in the original..from everything being perfect..to people disappearing...to scientists being discredited..etc...It really helped build suspense. When I saw the show on Tuesday I felt like it was just going through the motions. The first 40 minutes were bad but it did get better towards the end.

I read that they just changed showrunners and that a writer from Chuck and The Shield will be joining the writing team. That alone gives me faith that it could get better.

With "Lost" everyone wanted answers quick. Instead of letting it play out. Now with this show they try not to do that. And people aren't satisfied. It did well in the ratings.

I refuse to watch it! When I was 5, my dad used to work really late most nights and my mum was obsessed with watching V, so she would let me stay up late and watch it with her. I had nightmares-and daymares- for like a year. I thought my teachers were giant lizards who were going to put me in a pod and eat me. I thought giant lizards had already gotten my parents and were now disguised as them. It was awful! I tell my mother about this now, and she has no recollection even of watching the show! I'm like ma, how could you let a 5 year old watch V! Thus, on principle, I will not be watching the new series. hmmph.
