I'm surprised PJ would share the stage with Bon Jovi who used an Ed look-a-like in one of their videos (in a not flattering way) and Ed recently said this comment about Bon Jovi during some show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GkNv8qx_kU

I'm guessing Bon Jovi may be a guest of the venue, but not performing...

  • Just about...once in a lifetime opportunity...I have tix to World Series game and was wavering back and forth on which to go to...now I am going to go to game till 9 then go to concert...
  • Bruce would be cool for a song or two... Maybe PJ backing him on Growing Up...

Billy Joel doesn't fit the genre... Animal followed by Piano Man??? ehh

  • Also, there were lots of rumors for the final concert at Giants Stadium (a Bruce show)

that Mick Jagger, Billy Joel, and Eric Clapton would be coming out. These rumors can get pretty silly.

Yeah, I don't know why they would go from one hair-extreme to the other, on keys.

I think an "Only the Good Die Young" with Bruce, Billy Joel, and Pearl Jam would be insane and epic . . .in fact, I had a dream about it last night. SOOOO glad I'm flying there for the show tomorrow morning.
  • Again, I'm not buying the rumors. However if it were to happen (and I"m a huge springsteen fan), the only way I would enjoy it, if it were a 5 hour plus show - and in between all pearl jam to open, there is an hour or two of other artists, followed by a final 90 minutes of pearl jam ONLY to end.

Ending the show w/ 5 artists on stage singing "People Get Ready," or something, would be excrutiating.

  • I hate Bon Jovi and Billy Joel. They shouldn't be allowed in. I think they're two of the most overrated musicians ever. Piano Man? Puh-lease.As for Bruce, this pleases me.

I don't know about that ... I could see PJ rocking out on "We Didn't Start the Fire" or Ed trading verses w/ Billy on "Only the Good Die Young" or "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me."
Rise. Life is in motion. I'm stuck in line.
Oh rise. You can't be neutral on a moving train.
  • The E-Street band DID back BJ for "Only the Good Die Young" and "New York State of Mind" last night at the RnR HoF.

For those interested, here is a fan' write-up on last night's show... seemed pretty cool:

Ha! I didn't know that ... but it seems like it would make it even more likely that PJ would throw down w/ Bruce and Billy.

this is just getting worse and worse. i see tickets still being offered, i see reasonable airfare from LA to Philly, but i still have a term paper looming over me that is due Sunday night (yes Sunday). it hurts, it hurts....

it is amazing that people will always find something to complain about. How can you say "the only way I would enjoy it, if it were a 5 hour plus show - and in between all pearl jam to open, there is an hour or two of other artists, followed by a final 90 minutes of pearl jam ONLY to end" (didnt mean to single you out, it was just the perfect line to quote so far) If they are playing a 5 hour set, how can you get mad about anything?? It is a once in a lifetime concert. PJ is really embracing the honor of being the last act to play there. These other artists are all going out of there way to celebrate the history of the Spectrum and who knows maybe even are looking forward to play with PJ. They didnt charge extra for this show, when they easily could have. It is shaping up to be the longest show they ever played. They are playing with people they normally dont just for the occasion. And yet people still find a way to complain about it. It is amazing.

I see you point and generally agree, but I guess what this is is people expressing the fact that, while they LOVE Pearl Jam, they really don't care too much for some of the guest artists being talked about, which if fine in that regard. They clearly would (if given the choice) prefer a PJ-only show, long or otherwise, to the combined version. However, I do agree that we should all consider that this is a once-in-a-lifetime show, bound to be full of other surprises we have no idea about, and in the end those who are going should just jump on and enjoy the ride!

ANyone that would rather a regular 2 1/2 hour pearl jam show to a potential 5 hour show with 2 of the greatest songwriters of the last 30 years is outta their mind. Jovi i agree would be a waste

No offense taken. But my point is that I paid to see Pearl Jam, not Bon Jovi eating into PJ's 2:30 minute set. THAT is my point.

However, if PJ still got a full 2:30 hours worth of playing THEIR material, I would welcome the other artists...

does that make sense? wouldn't you feel a tad gipped if you got "only" 15 PJ songs?

You will get a 2:30 minute set, plus more, and within the extra the special guests will appear....

and if the show goes until 2am, are you going to leave at 11:30 because you only paid for a 2hr30min set?

Theres no way PJ is only gonna play 15 pearl jam songs, come on. The special guests arent gonna be there for the entire show, probably a song or 2 each. Although i certainly wouldnt complain if bruce stays on for more than a song or 2.
