you people realize even if they have it booked til 2 am, it doesn't mean they will play until that time. I'd be shocked if it goes past 12:30 the absolute latest. Regardless, I wish I was there, it will be up there with the mansfield.

That's what I was thinking until I read this:

    During Philly 1 from Twitter:
Eddie: "Saturday by 2 am, we're gonna play every song we know."

by 2am, so they could be done by midnight, even 11:30

Or earlier... but the fact that Security staff had mentioned (prior to ed's comment) that they are on the schedule to work until 3am... plus ed mentioning "Saturday by 2am"... that strongly implies that they are preparing for a 2am show end.

I guess the question now is whether or not PJ will play for the entire supposed time (3-5 hours) or whether special guests will play some short sets. Did Ed really say that they would play songs we haven't heard before? Some Backspacer B-sides perhaps?

Though, technically, he said "Saturday by 2 am, we're gonna play every song we know."

...so, that is really FRI OCT 30TH's show.

    GOD I LOVE THIS BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream
Where I'm not ugly and you're lookin' at me
  • This is the perfect example of over-hype. It's going to be funny watching everybody pissed off IF they don't play longer than 3 hours.

expectations are getting WAY out of control, which usually happens with this band's fans and we end up disappointed.

If it's booked til 2am, I would wager that it is because they are considered starting the show late (because of the WS) and not because it's going to be a 5 hour show (ridiculous).

regardless...cant wait for Friday and Saturday.

    this is hilarious.

    1. you assume that they are playing 3-5 hours and have moved on to additional speculation. it's MUCH more likely that they are planning to start the show after the Phillies game. not trying to be a downer, i'll be at the show, but come on.

    2. the report of Ed's statement started with hime saying "we'll have played every song we know by Saturday" and has evolved into this. it's like the whisper game when you were a kid, start with a statement and see how it ends after it goes through 1000 message posts.

ummm the band goes on at 9PM, that's an hour after the start of the baseball game. And there are multiple events down at the stadiums at the same time, all the time. This is nothing new or out of the ordinary, other than the fact it will be the last show at the Spectrum and a World Series game next door. Last year, it was a WS game and a Who concert at the same time, no big deal.

If they play extra long, I can see an acoustic set in the latter half.

Start the show after the game ends??? No freakin chance, the game probably wont end before 11, theres zero chance of the show starting at 11, or even 10.

I agree I dont see any way they play till 2, a 5 hour show?? thats crazy. id say 12-1230, a nice 3 1/2 hour show.

do those radio stations have a website and internet-streaming so people from overseas can join in as well?

    Nice, just for rats.

On a more serious note, whatever they play and however long it is for it will be great. The hype has gotten a little crazy, but here is to hoping that the crowd can get them through a 3+ hour show.

That unfortunately doesn't bode well for a 2am show then.

Load-out for a show ending at 11pm usually goes until 2am (3 hour load-out). I've supervised many load-outs in arenas for promoters. If he's guarding the back-entrance (where I'm assuming the trucks load-in and load-out) then that schedule is not unusual for an average show.

I would recommend asking F.O.H. (front of house) security who handle the crowd, since that's the real marker on how long the show will go on.
