I'm actually angry at Weezer.....

Anyone heard the new album yet? It's by a million miles their worst album. I was listening to it on the bus yesterday and I was actually getting angry at the lack of imagination. All of the songs are 3 minutes pop songs. There's no reason to go back and listen to it. I'm being very harsh on it I realise, but at least there was Heart Songs and The Angel and the One to go back to on the Red album, but there is nothing remarkable on this album. There's even a Timbaland esc song that wouldn't be misplaced in some club.

I like the tracks I'm Your Daddy and Put Me Back Together, but even after a couple of listens these start to get old. Maybe this will grow on me, but I don't see it happening. Rant over........

    Yea, I'm not so sure I like the new direction either. And Rivers seems to be collaborating with everyone nowadays (all american rejects, kenny g, REALLY!?!?) which is totally against-the-grain. Maybe this is just a phase...

    I just saw Weezer this past Saturday.. and gotta give them credit, they are very entertaining. It's like the guys that work in the I.T. department... except with guitars and are really good. They do a great cover of Sabbath's 'War Pigs'. And a stage that includes a trampoline... come on, how fun it THAT?

    Far worse. I'm not a huge detractor of Make Believe, though it is in the lower half. I'd love to grab Rivers and say "you're better than this"!

    I agree, it's a really disappointing record. The forced irony is getting embarrassing now. Their decline just got a little steeper...

    while i understand the anger of the OP, when havent Weezer been a pop band, who wrote 3 minute or less pop songs? The Blue Album, Pinkerton and the Green Album are flawless in my mind, but the songs on those albums arent underground indie freak outs. They are pop songs.

    Buddy Holly, Say it Aint So, The Sweater song, In the Garage, Island in sun, Hash Pipe etc... those aint indie songwriting folks. Those are expertly written and performed pop song.

    If you are gonna spout off on how the new album doesnt measure up to the old records, thats fine, but lets not pretend this band is anything other than they are.

    i got an email from Weezer the other day, they are performing on some MTV show and you can enter to attend....though 1 of the conditions is you MUST be 15-25 and show proof!

    Really, though, can you blame them? Everybody over 25 remembers when they were good, and are blasting them for making a(nother) shitty record that they downloaded illegally for free. For the record, I'm not defending Weezer. I also downloaded the album illegally for free, and I also claim the album to be one of the worst excuses for modern music I have ever heard.

    I have to say I agree. Weezer is nothing special at all.

    Although I wouldn't go as far as punching him in the face...maybe just keep him, or the band in general from making more records??? It's all radio, similar-sounding slop. (of course, this is just my opinion)

    i agree that they're new one sucks, but their fun and you can't deny that, I sa them last year at MSG and had an absolute blast

    Obviously everyone in this thread...and generally most of the people out there. I'd be willing to bet the average person is more aware that Weezer is still putting out albums than they are aware of Pearl Jam doing the same.
