Hand Clappin' Foot Stompin' Funky-Butt...Live!- Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band

When I get down about anything, I want music to cheer me up, not make me worse. So, the funky stuff goes on the turntable.

The Avalanches - Since I Left You

Picks me up...and it's just out there.

GOOD CALL! Frontier Psychiatrist is immense too. Samples put to perfection, its got groove and melody.

    Awesome.

For me it's Jools Holland. Seen him live more than PJ.

Yield is wonderfully uplifting. Backspacer is also great, but a little too cheerful for when you are in the dumps :)
If, on the other hand, I feel hopelessly in the dumps and want to cherish the feeling without getting necessarily and immediately out of it, then Kid A is my choice.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

Elliott Smith - Either/Or , it makes me feel better because that album is so grim that it makes you think your life is OK.

If I want a fun album to listen to It's either Californication or 40 Oz. to Freedom.

    some great stuff in here.

yesterday and still today i'm just feeling down, but not depressed so much.

i was not in the mood to "work my way outta the dumps" so i spun me some AIC. they totally kept me right where i was and made me feel okay about it.

today I'm ready to pick myself up, so Blind Melon it is .... for now.
    Peace, Love.

if im depressed i usually dwell in it. so i hardly ever listen to something that will pick me up. so for me it would be something of this nature:

    Radiohead: Amnesiac
Alice in Chains: Jar of Flies

  • I used to always keep a copy of Merkin Ball in the car for those rough rough days at work. I would throw it in and listen to Long Road on repeat.

wallowing and want to continue wallowing: Mad Season (also great for nostalgiac reasons after a few Crown Royals-especially my Live At The Moore VHS)
angry and want to stay angry: Dirt
    Gimli 1993
    Fargo 2003
    Winnipeg 2005

  • Really interesting when i first read this i thought My Mad Season vinyl or my Jar Of Flies/Sap vinyls and alot of people have mentioned the jar of flies. Also the Bends. Just the title is obvious enough. My girlfriend even knows if i'm spinning any of my Layne vinyls i am usually feeling depressed. Also The Doors usually LA Woman. Dirt if i'm fuckin pissed or "down in a hole". Just glad that since i moved to salt lake i have stayed away from the stupid shit since the green is so good here. Back to being a pothead is very nice

    Afghan Whigs / Gentlemen

Depressing album that really dosen't help lift me from the bottom, but it sounds so good.
