i always find that No Code is a good album to listen to when i'm down. there's something very comforting in that album... it's the sound of a band caught up in events that seems to have spun completely out of control around them despite their best efforts to do the right thing, and the struggle to find some measure of peace in the maelstrom. which is usually how i feel when i get down.

QOTSA - Songs for the Deaf. I let "millionaire" rip on my speakers and BAM, my blues are gone.

Other than that, Damien Rice- O is a great album for wallowing in your own pity.

Clann Zu - s/t is another one.

Depends on if I want to be picked up or not.

If I do, Given to Fly (a live version) has been my go to song for years.

If not, Elliott Smith Either / Or, or, AIC Jar of Flies. There is something about listening to Rotten Apple when your down. It's like your in the dumps but there is someone else right there with you.
  • For me, it's Bon Iver's "For Emma, Forever Ago", hands down favorite for that time. I also like Blind Pilot's "3 Rounds & A Sound."

I always turn to "Soup" by Blind Melon when I'm feeling a bit crappy, specifically the song 'Walk' which starts with these words:

"Find myself singing the same songs every day,
Ones that make me feel good when things behind the smile ain't ok"

    and ends with these:

"And under a sun that's seen it all before, my feet are so cold,
And I can't believe that I have to bang my head against this wall again
But the blows they have just a little more space in-between them
Gonna take a breath and try again."

When Shannon sings that last line it's just so uplifting. It always makes me feel like there is something better to look forward to.

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”

    I hope your feeling better...

it varies greatly from time to time..

lately though I've been listening to Grace by Jeff Buckley and Jar Of Flies. both of course RULE when I'm in a good mood too.

other than those.. hm. Raising Sand (Robert Pland and Alison Kraus) works wonders aswell!

  • Mad Season - Above
  • The Bends is quite a good one for me. By the time it reaches the title track, I've forgotten what had gotten me down.

    :D
It's gonna be a glorious day...
  • Alice In Chains- Tripod. By far AIC's darkest album, I listen to it a lot when I'm depressed. I also listen to Pearl Jam's No Code, Eddie's lyrics on that are really deep on that record.

When I'm pissed off I listen to Soundgarden- Badmotorfinger. Makes me want to break shit.
