I love PJ as much as anybody can.....

I have idolized Eddie Vedder for almost 20 years now...

    BUT

Jim Morrison was AMAZING in his time!

    AMAZING!

    i can't ( won't ) say one is greater than the other.

they are my two favorite singers/songwriters of all time though.

    love both them.

    Jim's poetry is brilliant.
    Peace, Love.

I must say in that video Morrison was out of his fuckin skull....
it was a miracle he could even speak.
Ed likes his booze, but compared to Morrison he's an alter boy..

Stage presence-both tremendous, too close to call....
As far as lyrics- they are both all-time greats, but I'll give the nod to Vedder....
voice-wise- once again both all-time greats, but personally I'll go Vedder...

We're all PJ fans on this board but you have to admit Morrison was a tremendous front-man...
  • doesnt any one remeber when eddie and the doors recorded like 5 songs together back in '92.

    Morrison was a buffoon.

He wasn't the first to get arrested on stage.

He's been deified because he died at an early age.

All sneer, no substance. The W. Axl Rose of his time.

I agree!! Densmore and Kreiger were better song writers to boot!!

  • i don't know why you guys have gone on the tangent of actual greatness...it was just a joke cause they both tried to turn the lights down, Ed succeeded and Jim didn't...i was just kidding around with the fact that Eddie knows how to get things done...

when it comes to actual skill, i really don't have an opinion, i love The Doors but i really don't listen to them on a regular basis so i don't know much about Jim or his antics, so i can't make a credible argument for a real comparison

again my only point to this thread was just to joke about how Ed was able to turn the lights off when Jim fell short...and if i had an opinion, i'd say you can't compare, cause, these two artists are from different eras which called for different styles...it's like comparing a modern day TV sitcom, to a classic sitcom like I Love Lucy or The Honeymooners
