The eastern state penn is an awesome place to visit- I believe they stopped their regular daily tours due to the Haunted House at night which runs from September-November- I heard it's one of the top 5 in the US-
it's a decent walk from the Art Museum/ Rocky Statue/Ben Franklin pkwy

if your in the Halloween spirit you can also check out this place- Philadelphia Mutter Museum- full of creepy medical oddities - very interesting and cheap

Last year I stayed in Philly for the Camden shows and during the day of the second show, I took a walking tour of all the historic areas. I sat down for a rest on a bench in the park right behind Independence Hall and Mike MCready came walking by with his little girl and I assume his wife/girlfriend (?) and another female. They stayed in the park for quite a while, Mike playing with his daughter and taking videos and pictures.

I'm going to walk the Olde City section, which has plenty of great restaurants and historical stuff (Betsy Ross house, etcetc). There is an awesome record store on 2nd or 3rd street, near Market ST. I think it was advertised on the back of EV's solo gig brochure.

The Art Museum is very cool at the other end of town. Built in 1876. My friend was there last saturday and literaly bumped into Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth.

I will try to end up at this cool neighborhood bar called DIRTY FRANKS...no lie

Hope to run into fellow pj fans.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
    ride"!
