This is my first post on here, BIG MOMENT :D
For me it was only 2 years ago, We were going to a concert * ACDC * and My uncle brought TEN with him, I absolute loved it form the moment i heard the song Porch, The song still has a special place with me. After the concert i bought TEN then VS and so on..
No other Band had such an effect on me as much as PJ did and they still continue to please my ears.
I am a young cub in the eyes of Pearl Jam fans
But i will be sure to grow and grow. But sadly :( I have never seen them live, Hopefully they will come to Ireland this year.

Thank you Pearl Jam :)
and hello EVERYBODY hope ye all have a great week.!!

My friend Kevin made me a cassette of highlights from Ten, Vs., Vitalogy (which had just come out a few months prior), and some Nirvana stuff on it. Before that, I barely listened to music at all. After I heard "ONCE" I was blown away-- "REARVIEWMIRROR" sealed the deal.

My older brother just started playing SOLAT unplugged version loads and said check this out then i just went mad with them ;p
  • I was twelve when Ten came out. It was the first C.D. that I ever purchased. For everyone that I went to school with, your first C.D. was either Ten or Nevermind. I fell in love with PJ instantly. I literally took the C.D. everywhere I went where I know I would have the ability to play it. I am now twenty nine and I think that I have owned Ten at least seven times. I now own the ultimate box set of Ten and consider it one of my most valued possessions. I have followed them ever since. I have been in love with them unconditionally until they gave more to people who bought their C.D. from Target, than the fans who got it off their web page.

I got sick of listening to gangster rap!

Vitalogy, Merkinball, and college radio changed it all for me in the 90s!

BTW, Vinny, I love your name!
  • Saw them at Jones Beach "its Ok" Show

Got hooked! PHILLY with be my 22/23 show!

I remember in '92-'93(I was 15)when the Even Flow video came on and the song rocked. Eddie was climbing up on stuff and jumping into the crowd. I thought it was the greatest thing I had ever seen. I bought the CD that weekend and have been a fan ever since!
  • welcome to the bitching..err..board!

  • I was in third grade when my brother's friend made us a copy of Ten and we traded a copy of Nevermind, it was a white and blue Maxwell cassette with pearl jam Ten scribbled across the top. And after waning through the late '90s and high school, I picked up the 2000 bootleg of the 11/06 show in Seattle and that was it, I was hooked.

I had always liked them. I remember my brother bringing home Vs., and I remember buying Yield on the first day. But oddly what really hooked me was reading a review of one of their live shows, then buying Riot Act and becoming obsessed
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

My sister bought Ten in one of those deals where you buy 10Cds for 1 cent back in 1997 when I was 13 and I've been hooked ever since. The specific song that got me was Alive.

A friend gave me a tape of Ten to listen to on the way home from an amusement park after the van we were in broke down. I remember him giving me the tape and not being able to get past the first song because it was so good. This was in 1993.
    Go Get 'Em Tigers!
  • A really good friend passed me in 1994 a VHS with MTV unplugged and also a bootleg CD from a concert at Brixton academy. I was instantly hooked. Then I bought Ten and Vs ... and many more PJ stuff. However I only saw them for the first time live in 2000.
  • The year is: 1997 - when I was 15.
I was listening Nirvana for a year and I had an old rock magazine (from the year '94). You know the rock was equal to grunge at that times! And the title was: Kurt Cobain vs. Eddie Vedder. That is how I heard about Pearl Jam. After a while, in school, I was bored -between the break time of two lectures,- decided to go to music shop and bought Yield (by the way, turned back to class!)
At first times it sounded different, maybe I was waiting something (especially guitar sound) close to Nirvana?!

The second album came after 2 weeks:
I remember breaking the schooll in the morning. Buying V.S. (as cassette), listening it on the way back home with my sony walkmen. Said my mom: "Teachers let us early". Got into my room. Then I listened over and over again, and amazed with the sound and songs of the album.

Then I collected all the albums, Eddie became one of my best friends for 12 years.

Always cool to see new fans, and welcome to the pit! I was 15 when Ten came out and after a friend had left his copy of Ten at my house, I was hooked soon after. I also remember watching the videos for Even Flow and Alive on MTV around the same time. They always seemed to come on right when I got home from school.

Ahh, it just happened. I was 18 in late '91, finishing school... it was a big time with lots of huge albums being released: Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Nevermind and Ten. I absorbed them all, along with Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, Alice In Chains but the band that stuck in my heart, from the off, was Pearl Jam. I tend to be an all or nothing kind of person and, consequently, I've been all about Pearl Jam ever since. Oh, there was also the movie Singles, which I saw 4 or 5 times at the cinema. I bought the Alive single and immediately fell in love with both it and Wash, ditto to Even Flow single with Dirty Frank. To this day, Wash is still my favourite song and I'm still yet to hear it live. One day... hopefully Philly Oct 30th (c'mon guys, it's my birthday... pretty please!) :D

First heard Eddie's voice on Hunger Strike when TOD first came out. Had to find out more about the guy (and the band!) behind the voice.
  • It was 1993 and I remember hearing Black on the radio and I didn't even know the bands name at that point but I just knew I had to find out whose voice that was singing that song. Have been hooked ever since.

First saw them the the Patriot Center at George Mason in VA. Apr 94 the same day that Kurt Cobain's body was found. It was an extremely emotional night for the band and especially Eddie. The concert was completely amazing and I have been a follower ever since. Have been to over 45 shows. Going to all 4 Philly shows so I will approaching 50 shows. Wow !!!
