ill add another one for michigan.
lafayette coney island /american coney island, detroit
This is what I was thinking. I never heard of that place named "Jaws", but the 2 coney islands are so cool. I remember being a kid and thought it was so cool how you could walk in and be on one street and leave and be around the block!
I know the Red Wings have brought the Stanley Cup into Lafeyette. My bf says you can go on You Tube and do a virtual video tour of Lafayette. He says some high school kid did it as a class project. Just google Lafayette Coney Island. I guess it shows how they take your order so cool and how they relay it back to the cook. (That alone is a show).
It has so much to tell. The way the guys holler the order, the waiters doing magic tricks, the 2 places are right next door to each other, how bums and rich people are sitting right next to each other, how the workers will come outside and try to get you into their place instead of the other, and the coneys!
Do any of you michiganders know about Telways? LOL!!

The instruction said something unique but I think all 50 states have a place serving a giant burger.
Another Oregon entry, which VooDoo Donuts seems to be the most unique so far, I like a burger at a place called Sonny's in Springfield. It's called the Skippy Stumpy. It's a burger topped with pickles and peanut butter. Ordered it once out of curiosity and it turned out to be really good. Doesn't top the Bacon Maple Donut though.
I was born in Alabama and grew up in Mississippi - two of the finest states for food anywhere, so this is very hard to pick. I would recommend Mississippi for fried catfish (Alabama a close second for the tasty critter). I would recommend Alabama for good 'ol southern fried chicken. BBQ is a staple as well in both states.
As far as restaurants are concerned, I would give the nod to Long's Fish Camp in Enterprise, Mississippi (located on the banks of the Chickasawhay River). Long's has the very best fried catfish, hushpuppies, and slaw. For Alabama catfish feasts, the top destination is Ezell's Fish Camp in Lavaca, Alabama (located on the banks of the Tombigbee River).
For fried chicken in Alabama, my pick is Martin's Restaurant in Montgomery. For Mississippi fried chicken, I give the nod to Jean's Restaurant in downtown Meridian. The ice cold sweet tea at each of the places is the best anywhere around.
I'll mention two great BBQ joints in Alabama. The original Dreamland location in Tuscaloosa is the most famous and you also have what is many people's favorite at a place called Archibald's, also located in Tuscaloosa.

How is it that no NY'er has chimed in on a pizza joint yet? DiFara's gets my vote!
cause nyc has alota good pizza joints
joe's pizza gets my vote
That narrows it down, there's several Joe's Pizza. Personally nothing says fine dining like some street meat and a two dollar hot dog from the cart late at night.
