    Pearl Jam and Slipknot :lol:

    Hahaha...now that would be a hell of a show.

  • it would be perfect. tool could play their standard 30 minute show, with no break, leading straight into an epic 2.5 hour pj show.
  • tools shows are seriously short?

    Tool is great, I just can't listen to them non-stop like I do Pearl Jam.

    Honestly, I listen to Pearl Jam everyday for atleast an hour (usually way more).

    Crack kills.

    you serious? you never been to a Tool show then.... they play for an hour and forty five min. I know I've been to at least 13 shows. These are my two fav. bands!! PJ first because I fell in love w/ them first, TOOL 2nd
    In my lifetime, I have conquered the Multiverse by force of trUth.
  • I was a Tool fan for years, until I saw them live in 2001. I honestly found the show very boring, Maynard hid back behind the drum kit the whole show. Once I got past the novelty of the visuals (things coming out of the rafters etc...), I lost any interest in the show. It was very monotonous (ducks to avoid shoe...)

    i was exaggerating, but the 2 shows of theirs that i've seen have been no more than an hour each, and they were the headliner.
  • Tool sucks
    Pearl jam doesn't

    just sayin'

    I saw TOOL at NOKIA in LA...2nd row.............guitarist never even LOOKED at other band members ONE TIME

    for how syncopated their music is...........a REAL testament to their musicianship.............

    Well they've played the same setlist over and over for the last like 5 years so it can't be too difficult to keep time

    To all those saying that tool shows are the same, you are right. they are usually very similar if not the same. But the fact that they nail each and everyone of those songs perfectly night in and night out is pretty incredible. There is something about hearing Stinkfist start a show that I would not want any first time concert goer to miss. And I agree with the previous poster, who ever saw that epic drum battle during that leg of the tour is lucky as hell. might be the coolest 10 minutes of a concert I have ever seen.
    I think back to back nights is the only way to see these two bands. The same night would be too much. They create such a different atmosphere it would be hard to see them perform well together, however, I wouldn't mind seeing this experiment at all. I have a huge MAN-Crush on Danny Kerry. With all due respect to others before him, Danny Kerry is the greatest drummer of all time. (IMO)

    Yeah....Actually after you get the time sig in your head/hands it's SUPER easy stuff to play. Danny Carey sure has his 10 arms full.

    Also, when I seen them on the 1st run for 10k Days, Adam and Justin were lookin at DC quite a bit during Rosetta Stoned.

    Exactly! I almost didn't use that name because i was afraid people wouldn't get it...besides, don't we now live in a "post-racial" society?
  • I would like to see AIC open for pj. Also, I wonder what pearljam would sound like if they had danny carey on drums,do you think it would be a good fit?

    to infinity & beyond, nice one.
  • I saw Shed Seven support Aerosmith years ago, now that's an unusual pairing.

    I'm willing to bet Tool would never want to tour with Pearl Jam and that half of Tool's fans hate Pearl Jam, and vice versa.
  • Tool sucks

    My guess is you are not a musician of any sorts? If you played music or wrote songs you would realize that is an INSANE statement to make about Tool. Now, they are not one of my favorite bands or anything but they ARE truly talented composers and players.
    1. Great melodies and lyrics(listen to the 2nd album for proof)
    2. Great hooks (get a load of the counter melody in their later stuff)
    3. Great riffs (the time signatures alone make for an interesting listen)
    4. Maynard has a tone and range (over 2 octaves) that is truly impressive
    5. The rhythm section can play in many differing time signatures, grooves and tempos and sound amazing
    6. Etc...I could go on
  • I care not for the Tool. I enjoy listening to their stuff every once in a while, but that's as far as it goes.

    The way it all fits together is amazing.

    Aenima IS the album of the 90s.

    Is 2 octaves impressive? I always thought great rock singers had more like a 4-5 octave range. Eh, he still does things that no other singer can do, and he's pretty fuckin incredible ego aside. Alotta really cool lyrics.

    Danny Carey is a beast.

    Justin Chancellor doesn't impress me a whole lot, but in a band like Tool, he's gonna have his share of kickass parts.

    Adam Jones' control of his sound is just absurd. The way he can replicate his album sounds is just out of this world. It doesn't seem like he's the best player, but he totally makes up for it with his sound and ideas.

    Another fun note, Jambi is inspired by the Peewee's Playhouse genie of the same name.
    meka leka hi meka hity ho or whatever kinda follows the time sig.

    4-5 octaves is not realistic. Also, 2 octaves is PLENTY cause it is the TONE that matters most.

    Examples of some approximations of the great singers ranges (in full voice no falsetto):
    Lennon--->1.5 octaves
    Harrison--->1 octave
    Dylan--->1 octave
    Bono--->2 octaves
    McCartney--->2.5 octaves
    Plant--->3.5 octaves
    Daltrey--->2.5 octaves
    Mercury--->2.5 octaves
    Cornell--->3.5 octaves
    Cobain--->1.5 octaves
    Maynard--->2.5 octaves
    Vedder--->2.5 octaves
    Average singer--->1 octave (stretched to 1.5)
  • Foo Fighters & Pearl Jam. That would be a kick-ass tour. I don't know why it hasn't happened yet.
