why do 2 great bands have to sound alike to play together i mean pearl jam and rage played together in 1992 pearl jam has been the kind of band to play with whom ever
The setlist relayers would have an easy job for the Tool portion of the show.
I think Tool puts on a good show, but I wouldn't see these two bands touring together. Totally opposite performance styles.
this was exactly what I was going to say. I saw them on two separate legs of the 2002 tour- the SAME exact setlist. The first show was great, the second was boring

I like Tool, yeah!!
And I LOVE Pearl jam - but I don't think they fit together, totally different ways to express their minds. At least MY mind is touched in different parts
It would be far too much for me :? when they play at one show! No way!
I love Tool, especially Maynard's 'never will happen again' A Perfect Circle ( :( ) with a passion. But for both Tool & Pearl Jam to play together? Don't see it happening.
I like Tool, but there is absolutely NOOOOO variety to their setlists. If you've seen one show on a tour you've won't see anything different at another. That being said, they do rock live...
Odd pairing. I would take PJ and a reunited Soundgarden. Matt would have to pull double duty.
They'll all pull at least double duty, because after Soundgarden opens, they'll all come onstage and do the entire Temple of the Dog album from start to finish before Pearl Jam closes out the night - right? RIGHT?
And Tool rocks... I saw them live once and Danny Carey was simply unbelievable. So were the two nude dancers who did acrobatics during the encore break... lol
And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.

Absolutely right !! Only a moron like me can forget the temple of the dog angle. Well done !

I saw Tool in Montreal back in '07 @ the Bell Centre. Seeing Danny with Big Business'sdrummer, jamming out on Lateralus ... blew my fucking mind. I would love to see Matt & Danny do something like that!
So first of all, PEARL JAM and TOOL - they're two most important bands in my life. But, like somebody said before, there is no way to put THEM together into one show - I love them both but it's just totally different experiences. And I've seen TOOL in 2001 first and this european tour (actually not only european) was much, much, much better then 2006 or 2007 (when I've seen them too)
So the point is: love them but won't see them together - different shows, different energies, different expectations (my expectations)
Cheers!

Tool sucks? Wow.. Ok opinions are cool.. But hey- those two bands have much more in common than what's on the surface.. And Maynard Keenan? What can you say about a dude who takes his money to rebuild a forgotten town in Jerome, Arizona- create a sustainable community through common work, new vineyards (yes wine from Arizona), inner-town commerce, community, and an pure desire to relearn how to sustain life with whats natural and whats around you. And to those who bitch about Tool coming to an end (in the current form we know) due to Maynards endeavors.. The joke is on you. The band itself is about evolving and doing those very things..
Oh- woops.. drifted there for a second.. But that felt good.
That'd be kinda funny 'cuz my sister's husband loves Tool but dislikes Pearl Jam
Maybe he would be converted into a fan after seeing them if he was forced to go for Tool hahaha
love Tool, one of my top 10 fav bands, but wouldn't want to see them and PJ together in the same night. PJ and Radiohead could be an interesting show, and then Tool and Nine Inch Nails for another show. How about just a show with all five members of PJ each playing a solo set, then a half normal PJ show to finish it off?

You are wrong.
PJ is great as well as Tool.

The new Muse album is horrible. Each one gets progressively worse.
Pearl Jam + Pavement. Now that's a hell of a show.

better in a smaller (as in less bands) festival. . .with at least two hours between their sets to go back to the tent and wonder.
but i dunno if a show together would work, totally diff vibe..
ive seen Tool 3 times, once on the last tour and on the undertow tour

Truly funny that you would say that TOOL sucks.....clearly you are misinformed
I saw TOOL at NOKIA in LA...2nd row.............guitarist never even LOOKED at other band members ONE TIME
for how syncopated their music is...........a REAL testament to their musicianship.............
