Seriously? I can't think of a single friend who has ever even worn one, let alone owned one. Maybe us midwesterners just aren't as hip as you New Yorkers ;)

    apparently.
or maybe you hung with the crowd that was destined to become lawyers....and i hung out with the musicians/artists who were destined to become, gawd only knows what. who knows? also may be a generational thing as well. 8-) i cannot think of a time when my husband has NOT owned/worn a leather jacket...nor me actually. and no, we're not bikers, not even close.....

I doubt that. I ran with a lot of hippies and artsy folks in college, a lot of random restaurant friends after... not until law school did I meet the lawyer crowd, and even then, most of my friends were from all walks of life over Chicago (as most AA groups are wont to be, hehe), I didn't hang with the lawyers much.

If I ever go back to school, it's going to be to get a phd in sociology or something, and I'm going to use this as my dissertation topic ;)

never owned or worn a leather jacket either...living in so cal all my life and not being a hollywood douchebag i never considered wearing one ;)

I'm glad you said it, cause I've been thinking it :) Of course, I'm sure her husband is not a douchebag, but in the midwest, that's probably the tag you'd get for wearing one. We don't need James Dean wannabes out here... we all already ARE James Dean style rugged, hehe.

no, no...nothing about people wearing leather jackets but the west la hollywood wanna-be's etc will wear leather jackets on 80 degree days...sorry, that's being a douchebag...and there are about 8 days total during the year where a leather jacket would be a consideration

i get wearing them in colder climates but la? please

and as for the topic...icing on the cake? well not being repulsed by me is always a plus! ;)

obviously, it's simply a regional thing, perhaps...coupled with a generational twist as well. walk along NYC or long island streets in the fall or winter, and it would be impossible to NOT see many, many people, male and female, all ages, wearing leather. it's not a douchebag thing, it's not a wannabe thing...tho i am sure it can be that and many other things....but overall, it simply IS, here. that's all. also, obviously, not something i ever gave great thought to until you mentioned never owning or even trying one on. and please, rock n' roll and leather have always gone hand in hand, and i never met a guy in a band who didn't at least at one point in their life, own a leather jacket. again, perhaps regional....who knows?

and staying on topic - no, it's not an icing thing. ;) i simply do appreciate, male or female, the ability to rock em both.....the leather/casual....and the confident/suit. not a requirement, but it does work.

and the lawyer thing, was a joke. i know you were quite the stoner. :D

I didn't know wearing leather was so bad....I know a lot of people that wear leather jackets when it's cold. I've always wanted one too just never got one. I guess it's just different where you live. I lived in LA about 15 minutes from downtown\west side, whatever and no one's ever been judged by their jacket when it's leather that I know of. I just like that they go with almost anything!

Perhaps. When I think leather jacket I think 80s... Bon Jovi, Springsteen, New Jersey, etc. Just not really a part of the culture here I suppose. Strange!

Ah, the matchmaker. I do have the glasses and Clark Kent look, but I am SO not a dog person, so count me out of the icing list. All yours norm!

Anyway, you're perfectly welcome in the midwest. We don't hate here! Just might poke a little fun, hehe. I think out here the last guy to wear a leather jacket was the fonz is all ;) I did once date a girl that wore one... but she was from the east coast, hehe.

That was prior to me moving to Cleveland... which bumped it up a spot. You also forgot that Chicago tops NY and CA ;)

It is fun to see the little things that add to a relationship.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR (John Paul Young)

    Love is in the air
    Everywhere I look around
    Love is in the air
    Every sight and every sound

And I don't know if I'm being foolish
Don't know if I'm being wise
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when I look in your eyes

    Love is in the air
In the whisper of the trees
    Love is in the air
In the thunder of the sea

And I don't know if I'm just dreaming
Don't know if I feel sane
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when you call out my name

    (Chorus)
    Love is in the air
    Love is in the air
    Oh oh oh
    Oh oh oh

    Love is in the air
In the rising of the sun
    Love is in the air
When the day is nearly done

And I don't know if you're an illusion
Don't know if I see it true
But you're something that I must believe in
And you're there when I reach out for you

    Love is in the air
    Every sight and every sound
And I don't know if I'm being foolish
Don't know if I'm being wise

But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when I look in your eyes

    (Repeat Chorus 4X)

  • When I first met my wife - we were working part time at a Golf Course. I was working in the pro shop, and she was the beer cart girl. We got drunk one night and I asked her to go to Vegas with me the next day.

She said yes and we went for 3 nights.....and I knew right then and there that this was the type of person I wanted to be with.

Also - She drank beer from the bottle - and that is so cool for a girl
