    Studio....

id rather have a new studio album every 2 years (like back in the good ole days of PJ) instead of every 3-4 years...

I know im gonna get bashed for this, BUT

YOU SEEN PJ ONCE IN CONCERT, YOU SEEN IT ALL!

    Thats my opinion.......

wow, your opinion is really wrong. there are so many variables that make this untrue:

    1. your vantage point (i've seen them from the 3rd row and from the upper deck and from the lawn. these are all different experiences.
    2. they never play the same setlist twice
    3. ed fucking up the lyrics makes each show unique
    4. the venue makes it different. if you only go see them at one venue, it's still different for the reasons above
    5. WITH EACH NEW ALBUM, more new songs to hear live.
    6. There are more, but you get the idea.

As for the original question, it's not really a question. PJ is the best live rock band in the world. their studio recordings exist only to provide new material for touring.

live for sure, however there are a few tracks that are just way better on the studio albums than live. A few that come to mind are In My Tree, Who You Are, Given To Fly...I know there are more that I'm forgetting. I think a lot of the reason that some of the studio songs don't translate live is due to Jack Iron's drumming. Matt seems to have a hard time with a few of Jack's songs.

    Live - without a doubt.

Other than when a new album comes out, 90% of the Pearl Jam I listen to is live... once in awhile I will break out a studio album, but otherwise its all live. There are so many shows now in such good quality that there is never a shortage of live stuff to listen to.

Wow.. You REALLY don't get them, do you? What else is in your music collection? What do you define as good music? I am intrigued.. If you cannot recognize the completely unique transcendent experience that each show is.. Then what is it that attracts you to the band enough to join the tenclub?

You know, i think its fine if you prefer albums. whatever, each to his own. live gigs arent everyone's cup of tea.

HOWEVER: I have to call you out on your first point here. Any concert, in any venue, by any performer is a million times better and a more engrossing experience from the front rows. Comparing it to a back row scene is just ridiculous. Yeah you can enjoys shows from the back, but to dismiss it as a factor that could affect how you enjoy a show is just horseshit.

Also, having just said you saw them once, it sounds to me like you maybe just had a shit seat/crowd/or general experience. Ive seen them 8 times, all great shows - Except Werchter 07 which still stands out as a very average show to me (part of crowd i was in was shit, and the sound kept coming & going - not the bands fault). If that had been the only PJ gig i was at i might not "get it" either, ill admit that. I guess my point is that you should really try catch them somewhere with good sound & with a good seat...it can be incredible.

Also, all venues are not the same.

wow, you are truly a fucking moron. no, they don't just switch up the order of the songs. yes, they do have a few traditional closers, that doesn't mean the other 25-30 songs are the same. all venues are not the same dumbass. have you ever been to any concert of any kind, ever? i've seen PJ in a 1400 seat theatre, and i've seen them in arenas, and outdoor pavillions. trust me, there's a huge difference in all three. there are more, i'll give you one for fun - mike's solos and ed's improvs. completely unique.

just go back to following justin timberlake. you don't belong here.

What's truly ignorant is that on a topic that says 'PJ live or studio what's your opinion?' oyu can come on here and blast someone for stating an opinion that differs from yours.

I mean come on - he has just as much a right to an opinion as you do. I disagree with him, but I guess I have more class than to call him out for stating his opinion in a thread which calls for "YOUR OPINION."
