I miss Jack too, and think he was the perfect drummer for PJ.
BUT
I do have to say, this is the most comfortable and natural the band has sounded since Matt joined. The album feels as effortless as the last 3 have sounded forced.
I love Yield and No Code to and I think Jack brought some great things to the band, but...
I became a fan when I was 13 back in 1998. Matt is really all I've ever known. And let's be honest, other than Matt, no drummer has been with PJ longer than 3 years? Matt has been here for 11? Come on, Matt is Pearl Jam's drummer, end of story. He might not be the best drummer of all time, but he is an extremely solid rock drummer, and I am thrilled he has lasted this long, and hopefully he is the last drummer the band ever has.
words seem so out of place.

I threw my back out during that one drum fill in "Gonna See My Friend"
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
You are right. He might. I mean, he is probably my favorite drummer of all time, if that means anything?

Def hit it right on the head - was listening to Binaural on my commute home, and while I love that album and think Matt sounded excellent on it, this (Backspacer) was one of the first times where he really "blended" in with the band, really meshed with their overall sound...which of course is big props to him, and I'm sure he'd tell you this is one of the biggest compliments we could be offering him. Way to go Matt!
maybe ever think its also the guitarists that hace chagned the groove? and the bass player? or do you think they just feel they are superior to cmaerona nd embarrased they dont want to mention to cameron that he should be playing the "groove" differently?

It's not too hard to understand. I prefer Dave's style of playing to Matt's.

This is a good point. It's not just Matt making BSpacer his bitch. It's the whole rythym section.

LOL. To each his own, I suppose. But Dave A. is such a minor leaguer compared to Matt.

Matt still can't get the damn tempo for Even Flow down =/ He sounds like a robot behind the kit sometimes. He was much better in Soundgarden.

listen to that...Fuckin beastly fills. especially at 2:03 O_O
Hilarious.
yea i bet matt just stuggles like a child playing the drums for pearl jam. Poor guy
Just saying Dave made it sound better.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAYoo5SD ... 18#t=1m55s

I'll admit. Dave never met a splash cymbal he couldn't bash the fuck out of ad nauseum.
I mean, I don't hate the guy. But he was like a big dumb animal behind the kit. I prefer a more cerebral approach.
for the least they could possibly do
Yay!
Yeah, that's what I was kind of wondering. Dave's not coming back.
