Traveling to Philly next month

I am headed to the philly for the concerts. Need some advice.
Are there any good restaurants in philly? What about steak places? Where is the best seafood? Who has the best burger in town? Any good pizza? (we have an awesome place near here where you can walk to the arena from, best pizza and cold beer..anything like that?) If I wanted to catch some games, are there some good sports bars to hang with my fellow jammers and hoist a few cold ones? Preferably, said sports bar will have games in HD.
What is the tailgaing scene like? Where the hot tailgates at?
And don't be sending me to East philly, I'm not tryin to get shot

On the playground was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys
Who were up to no good
Startin making trouble in my neighborhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air'
For real though, right near the stadiums/arenas there is a Holiday Inn and it has a real good sports bar with good food and the HD TVs you're looking for. It's on Packer Ave and you can see all the stadiums from there. Probably a 5 minute walk to the Spectrum.
Also if you're into betting the horses, there is a good OTB right across the street from the Hotel. Throw $5 on the 3, and maybe you'll win some beer money.
Good luck
Have you ever been to a city with no good restaurants or sports bars?
Fargo.. That place was a pit.

fuck, i don't know. i'm staying downtown. only been thru the city twice on teh way to other places
it's easy enough to find stuff to eat and bars to attend.
yahoo local is your friend.
There is a bar at Citizens Bank Park called McFadden's and they will have all the sports and cold ones you could want.
As far burgers, I HIGHLY recommend the latest in burgers in Philly - it's at a public park called Franklin Square. It's a beautiful place with a miniature golf course and lots of fun for the kiddies. But the best part is a place called Square Burger. They are AWESOME. It's located between 5th & 6th street and Race. You can't miss it. The burger joint is right smack in the middle of it. It's just a shack, but damn, do they make the best burgers, shakes, fries, etc.
And they will remain open through Halloween.
While you are in the park, you can also see the sand sculpture dedicated to the 2008 World Champions of Baseball, it's the coolest thing.
Enjoy your stay, hopefully we'll meet at the pre-parties.
Can't wait for October.

Spoken truly like somebody who knows nothing about Philly.
Steaks: for fancy, go to Barclay Prime
Seafood: casual - Greek BYOB called Dmitri's at 3rd & Catherine - bring some cold beer or white wine; could also go to Oyster House, which just reopened, but is kind of historical
Gastropub (basically a place with good food and nice beer selection): South Philly Tap Room - 15th & Mifflin St
Italian: Go to Le Virtu' on East Passyunk Ave - you won't regret it. In honor of the Vs./Vitalogy drummer, this restaurant features Abruzzese food (food of Abruzzo)
Sports: Hopefully Phillies are in the World Series at that time. Chickie's & Pete's is always popular.
Greasy sandwiches: get a roast pork (Pork Italian) at Tony Luke's (or a cheese steak - just don't get it with orange plastic cheese whiz on it)
Stay in Center City and take the subway down to the Spectrum. More stuff to do in CC. Might be some hotel specials on travelzoo or gophila.com - Enjoy!

Um - I know Philly is famous for snapper soup (Reading Terminal) and turtle soup (try the Oyster House). I'd think you'd get better chowder in New England. Maybe it says where somewhere else on the internets.

Just saw Tony Luke's featured on this week's Man v. Food. Anyone wanna try the 5lb. cheesesteak challenge with me?
Uh, there is no East Philly. East Philly would be Camden, NJ.

What about steak places? Smith and Wollensky http://www.smithandwollenskysteakhouses.com It is a franchise, but a great one. Awesome steaks great location.
Where is the best seafood? I like POD http://www.podrestaurant.com/ it is a great sushi place. Great theme. A Stephen Star Restaurant
Who has the best burger in town? N/A, I have not really had a bad burger
Any good pizza? Lorenzo & Son Pizza Inc - Philadelphia, PA, 19147 -(No Website) Not walkable. There are not many walkable places by the arenas.
Getting Shot: East Philly(If you want to call it that) you are ok. That could consist of Olde City. South Philly, just some Irishman and Italians. North Philly, if you go off track..you may run into problems. West Philly, not that bad could be worse.
i'll be happy to watch.
Head just outside of town to hit this terrific brewery. Food was pretty good if I remember, but it wouldn't matter. The beer is delicious. I guess it depends on how much you like your beer.
Peace
(PS) I still have a spare SD 10c ticket.
(PSS) There's is a very short list of things I wouldn't do for a ticket to this unbelievable event.
Peace Love & Pearl Jam forever!!
Cheesesteaks at Tony Lukes! If you get a cheesesteak (which you must since your in Philly) You gotta go to Tony Lukes..... Hmmm I shall go there tonight after the "all that remains" and "Lacuna Coil" concert.
cheesesteaks are one of my favorites, but it has nothing on some real good pasta.
I'll go with you D. ;>
