Yes, 22. I have a lot to be grateful and happy for, but also have my battles just like everyone else. I don't think age has any bearing on it.

When I was younger my birthdays tended to suck, I think because I put too much emphasis on others to help make my bdays awesome. Now I have settled nicely into it's my day, which happened around 30 for me. So now at 38 I do what I want to do for the day and if anyone wants to join then by all means but my activities won't be affected by that in a bad way. Even if you have to work, or it coincides with another event(try having your bday on Mothers Day - no one remembers or cares it's your bday :-bd) you just have to say it's my day and I'm taking this moment, hour, afternoon etc. for me. Sorry if your day didn't turn out like you deserve.

Like PJ_Soul, I'm nearing that same age...I now do a little dance when I get carded (not the obligatory carded, but the carded when the guy gives my ID a second look and back at me again)

Yeah, my 20th Bday wasn't as 'special' as I had hoped, and since made me realize that it's cool to celebrate, but really in the grand scope of things, it doesn't matter in the slightest. This year I sat at home, watched tv, and talked to a friend I haven't seen in a year. Every year isn't going to be perfect, so the sooner you make peace with that fact the better, IMO.

I had a great day for the most part, its just a running trend for me to spend some time a little sad. Maybe not the typical time for existential thinking, but it always seems to pop up that day.

Oh well. It's over. Sorry to bother with my birthday musings haha
