Am realising I have a very unhealthy obsession with exercise. I've a knee injury that's preventing me from getting my usual daily exercise and the thought of eating without exercising is genuinely bothering me. This knee needs to sort itself out quick before I lose the plot completely

Can you modify your exercise routine? Skip knee things and roll with everything else?

Yes, how about going for a swim? Zero impact.
But the fact that you feel bad about eating just because you can't exercise due to injury might be something to be concerned about, as it sounds like a prelude to an eating disorder. The body needs rest sometimes!

As soon as I'm done with all the grading, my Winter break starts! I am looking forward to the open days!

Yeah I do have issues around eating, have always been quite obsessive about exercising. Unfortunately very little I can do that doesn't involve my knee, other than swimming as you suggest but I haven't been swimming in about 10 years and not likely to go now I'm afraid. Hopefully if I keep icing it I'll be able to get back to my normal routine soon

How about doing a bunch of stomach crunches and lower leg strengthening (cross your legs, and just move the foot on the leg on top up and down using the ankle. This is a GREAT workout for the lower leg!)? And butt clenches. :)
    Rest that knee.

I feel like I dislike Christmas a lot more than I like it. Not in a grinchy way, just in a logical way. The materialism/money-spending aspect is just ridiculous and I'm becoming frustrated that I'm basically being forced into it by my family.

In all fairness to the dog, it is a pretty weird fuckin' idea to keep a tree inside the house for a few weeks every year

Cookie boxes. Assembling them. A decent number. Readying them to ship this evening so that I may stand in line at the post office tomorrow.

why does the cat scream bloody murder at the back door, but when I go open the door to let him in, he runs away and does that little purr-meow sound?

He's been outside since yesterday morning.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
