  • I believe that there is a skunk living in the crawl space under our screened porch. The smell was so bad last night it woke us up. (Side note...is it not incredible that you can be conscious of smells while sleeping? Fascinating human brain...). Anybody have suggestions for finding mr skunk a new residence??

I couldn't eat as heavy every day, but once it starts getting colder outside, I get a craving for that kind of stuff. The only problem is, I don't know where to get the meat for the rolls. They don't seem to cut it here that way... Maybe I'll just explain it to the people at the Amish market and they prepare it for me.

Oh, and I made a German style apple streusel cake with a yeast dough yesterday. Turned out delish :D

Several years ago my sister and her family lived in Germany for a year. When we visited, on a Sunday we were looking for a place to eat and most of the restaurants were closed. We found an Italian restaurant where my sister wanted to eat because she said you can get great Italian food in Germany. I told her I hadn't come thousands of miles to eat Italian food. We finally found a tiny little place and ate there. Great experience! Just a little family place. Most of the staff didn't speak English. A couple came in with their dog and they brought the dog a bowl of water and some bones from the kitchen. I felt like I got a real German dining experience!
