Could PJ sell-out Giants Stadium?

Could PJ sell-out Giants Stadium? Reason I ask is because U2 is in town now and has 3 concerts sold-out. I don't think PJ could do it. They've shied away from marketing themselves for too long whereas U2 has had an iPod tie-in and now BlackBerry.

I think if they were into marketing themselves and doing everything possible to appeal to the pop kids like U2, they could have done it. The funny thing about that statement "appealing to the pop kids" is that I remember years and years ago Bono saying in an interview that they didn't care if the pop kids liked them or not... I guess he changed his mind...

What does everyone else think? Could PJ sell-out Giants Stadium? If yes, could they do it for 3 straight nights?

  • If it was their only Northeast show (as if they would ever only play one), I think it could sell out.

That capacity is actual installed seats for a football game. How many more can they fit on the field when a band is playing? Pearl Jam could actually fit more fans than U2 because their stages aren't too big, U2's 360 tour stage is ridiculous!
  • The 78,000 is for football games, for most regular concerts where no one is sitting on the sides or the back and seats on the floor I believe is in the 55,000 range. It would be interesting to see if PJ can sell it out, if its one show they might be able to.
  • I hope they NEVER play giants stadium it's a shit place to see a concert. Their is no type of connection between you and the band, you might as well be watching it on tv.

and how fast do the NY/tri state shows sellout?

Oz has more PJ fans/demand then NY does? and i doubt PJ's tkt $ would be $300, sellout(s) for sure...

and to top it all off i got friends that went tonight they had to park 30mins away.. PAY for a bus that dropped them off at the entrance...now imagine wats going to be like after the show

  • They could do it. Imagine the hype surrounding that kind of news. PJ fans would come out of the woodwork like cockroaches. No doubt about it. As for 3 nights, I doubt it. It would help if they had a relatively mainstream opening act like tha Stones do.

there are a lot of people out there that want to see U2 because they're U2. Those people probably know 5-10-15 songs, tops.

U2 has been around for a long time therefore it's really cool to love them.

You can't compare the PJ fan base to anything else. U2 selling out something doesn't mean shit and it's futile to point it out here.

if you try, you have a small penis.

    :) first to reply.

What's this thread about anyway? PJ can't sell out Giants Stadium so they suck?

How many people at that U2 show actually care about the band? Not as many as you'd think. They want to say they've been there.

I dont think that PJ fit in a giant stadium, a small club is the best place, more intimate.

You could form band and sell out MSG. I doubt they could sellout Giants Stadium, but the only way they could would be to play only one show in 2010 and have it be at Giants Stadium.
  • sure they could, whether it's NY Giants or SF Giants. the better question is, would you WANT them to have a stadium concert? there's no feeling of intimacy with the band. I vote for smaller venues, hands down.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
