But c'mon, the best moment in Backspacer? 6/12 in Philly when we realized we were the first ones to hear "The End."

That was amazing - if I remember correctly people didn't even clap for about 2-3 seconds after the song was over b\c everyone was pretty much stunned - it was a really noticeable pin drop kind of feeling - I know I was thinking - "Oh my God , what did I just experience?!?!" Hearing it that way for the first time was so special - one of my most memorable concert moments ever!
  • the start of track nine is amazing.
  • when Ed goes off at the end of Got Some.

when Matt goes off twice in Johnny Guitar.

I love the line "dream of dreams of other men, you'll be no one's rival"

  • The very end of "Amongst the Waves" when Ed sings "Better loud then too laaaaaaaaaate" then gives us some Ten era "yeahs" and a "woo-hoo".
    So this life is sacrifice...

when Matt goes off twice in Johnny Guitar.

I love the chord progression and drums on Johnny Guitar when Ed sings the "First 30 years or more I loved her so..." and "Cause for years I had been hoping..."

It's catchy, yet has that weird (but not too weird) Matt Cameron tempo thing going on.

  • "did i say that i need you, ohhhh! did I say that I want you. if i didnt im a fool, you see..."
    gives me chills

    "gems and rhinestones"
is def. a climax of the album.
"The ocean's made me, but who came up with love?"

that and the guitar break down with a funky groove during johnny guitar!!!
  • Haven't heard anyone mention this: For me it might very well be the 0:27 mark in The End. Second verse, when the instruments all come. It's magical, and makes me want to weep and jump up and down at the same time. There's something really... theatrical about it that I really appreciate.

  • Never been compelled to post before but this album has made me do it! Dunno about the rest of ya, but when I first heard Mike's solo in Amongst the Waves I thought it a little too understated. Then about the fifth time in it occurred to me that it was perfect. If he'd ripped into it McHendrix style it would have ruined it. The first 3-5 seconds give me shivers of anticipation. (There, kept it on-topic. ;) ) Definitely one for the 'less is more' category.

  • More than 3-5 seconds, but the "nothing left..." part of Unthought Known. And the outro to Force of Nature.
