I have not posted anything in a very long time but I thought I would add my 2 cents on The Avett Brothers. These guys are the real deal.... I have been a PJ fan since the early ninties. I sort of lost my love for music until I came across these guys. The music is alot differnt from PJ but there is alot of honesty in both of these bands. I am from the same area as these guys and have seen them 5 times in the past couple of years which has helped me from my PJ withdrawls. ( Yeap....I am in the south. ) I gave a friend of mine a cd I put together of difFerent songs from TAB. He called me one day and said he didn't get it.... I made him promise to keep the cd and give it time. Well, he gets it now. If you decide to give these guys a chance, I would not start with the new album....just my opion. BTW, here's to PJ playing the south....sometime before I leave this world. ONE LOVE

also whenever one of my buddies sleeps with a poor choice they are greeted with "shame" playing

This is a band that has been on my radar for a couple of years but no one i talk to in my "music circles" is into them.

What album do i get to fall in love with these guys? Where should i start?

I would start with Emotionalism or the Live Vol 2 album.

    Thanks Ajedigeko and the Look

I'm probably looking for albums, but i appreciate the songs as i'll take that into account when decideing which album.

I'm leaning towards Emotionalism right now. Still open to suggestions though.

Emotionalism is my favorite. That album gave me the Avett bug....Bad.

I think The Gleam II is very strong as well. It is an EP so it is cheaper.

1st song I heard was Murdered In the City, which prompted me to purchase Gleam 1 & 2, followed by Emotionalism... its all good :D

I watched their austin city limits show last night because i had it on my dvr.

They were pretty cool. I can see why they are liked. I'm not sure if they are for me. I will probably still track down a cd sometime in the near future and give them a chance.

Looks like their live shows could be fun. I regret not seeing them in the early 2000's when i lived in Charlotte. This girl i knew at the time wanted me to go with her but I never went to any of their shows she went to. :(

There was nothing great about the ACL show. It did not do the boys justice.
