I'm actually quite surprised because in Germany people speak more about electronic music or Heavy Metal.....
Just goes to show how powerful an undercurrent of long-term appreciation for a band can be. Noone's talking about Pearl Jam in the general population here either, but they've got a massive long-term fanbase that sits quietly waiting for the next album or tour; and I think it helps in Germany that PJ have done some of their best shows in recent years (including this year importantly) in Germany.

yeah..you're right. And I'm happy that those Pearl Jam fans don't belong to those obnoxious people you normally think have the most influence on the chart positions. Normally, there's a lot of crap in german charts. Songs like 'you have a hot ass' (In German it really sounds worse) or music from certain bands / singers of which I will discretely not mention the names.....

haha - i love the sound of "you have a hot ass"! i hope eddie vedder can get a hold of this one for a cover on the upcoming tour! we have more than our fair share of crap music in our charts. i just hope that pearl jam keep making music forever, as there doesn't appear to be anyone threatening to take the reins if they stop!

Yes, but he really should sing in German! I heard him talking German on a concert once and he did it very well!

I'm just trying to imagine him singing: 'Du hast den geilsten Arsch der Welt!'....... :P

Don't worry ! I still like my country.....
I think it's a German disease not to like your own country.....

And...btw....there are better things about Germany than the Oktoberfest, Sauerkraut, Lederhosen and BMW.....
    ;)

    thanks for the Post!
I am from Germany as well and hey, what good news for a morning greeting!
I am very surprised, though, as I always think PJ is nearly completely unknown here... well they know it but always think about Nirvana next and uhhh, we are back to the Grunge thing, right?

Anyway, I am happy that "we" finally realize the great music.
and p.s. Nastasja, good line you said about the German desease .... funny and right, I guess!
but I would not go for BMW... but for Sauerkraut + Red Kraut, love the stuff in winter!
    ;)

I actually fell in love with Pearl Jam after leaving Germany....
It's true, Germany is more a Nirvana country.
I like BMW but my fav would be a VW Golf :P
