Usually they try to get artists that were influenced by the artist to induct them. So having Michael Stipe induct Nirvana and young or townsend induct PJ would be cool, it may not happen.
So who are the popular artists of today that were influenced by Pearl Jam and Nirvana?
This won't happen till 2016 for PJ, so we may not even know the artist that is going to induct them.
I agree that this is the way it should go. No offense to Neil or Pete, but I don't really care what they have to say about PJ. I want to hear someone that was inspired by them. When PJ gets inducted it should be all about them, not their idols. Someone like Julian Casablancas from the Strokes would be very cool.
well I figure by then my album should have taken off so I could induct PJ and my friend Andres who would probably play guitar would induct Nirvana. also how am I the first person to say they'll be a rock star and will induct them I mean this is post what #25?
"I'm not suicidal, except when I drink. That's why we don't all drink at the same time, there'd be no-one alive to drive home..."
Chris Cornell
I think you are right on the inductee being someone who WAS influenced by the band. That does make much more sense than the other way around. So in that case...I don't have a clue who will induct PJ. Yet.
Seether will induct both if we are going by influences lol. There is also the possibility of Fred Durst for Nirvana, or Aaron Lewis for Pearl Jam. I am pretty sure Durst has a tattoo of Kurt on his chest.
Nirvana- Micheal Stipe
For Pearl jam- Pete Townsend.
i thought pete too at first, but eddie is more the who fan. i think it would be like kiss inducting pearl jam just cause mike is a big fan.
so im gonna have to go with neil young like already has been mentioned.
as for nirvana i think it would be great if paul westerberg did it, and made some joke about how they stole that title. but stipe is really the only clear choice.
Ben Harper or Jack Johnson might replace Bono as the PJ intro speaker....Now I am real curious, when Nirvana gets inducted, who will be singing "Smells Like Teen Spirit?"

the inductor (?) is supposed to be someone influenced by the band. For pearl jam that would mean someone like jack johnson or harper. Not niel young or michael stipes....

I like some of the suggestions in this thread, but I'd have to say my vote for inductor of Pearl Jam into the Hall is any of the following:
Cameron Crowe
Beck
Tim Burton
Mark Arm/Steve Turner
Dave Grohl

Memphis 1994 New Orleans 1995 Fort Lauderdale 1996 Atlanta & Birmingham 1998 New Orleans 2000 Tampa 2003 Kissimmee 2004 New York City (x 2) 2008 East Troy (x 2) 2011 Chicago & New Orleans 2013 Hampton, Raleigh, Boston 2016 Baltimore2020 Louisville 2022 Philadelphia & Baltimore 2024
how bout jack irons or cornell to induct pearl jam or some band we havent even heard of yet.

Soundgarden 12
Fugazi 13
Mother Love Bone 14
The Flaming Lips and MLB will probably never be inducted. Fugazi has more of a chance, but I don't see this happening either.
Not that these bands don't deserve it, but they just won't and it's unfortunate. The Hall is very political and wishy-washy. If Sonic Youth is not in there, and if Iggy and the Stooges are not in there, then I don't think the Lips nor MLB are going to get inducted any time soon, or, ever for that matter.

RARHOF is a joke this says it all. I have zero respect for that place standing for something worth while anymore
It'll definitely be someone the band influenced, not someone who influenced the band.
generally that is how it goes. however, i imagine PJ would prefer to be inducted by Neil.
I wonder if the band being inducted has any say in the matter?
edit: actually, Billy Joel just inducred John Mellencamp...so maybe it doesn't have to be a younger act.

Nirvana will be inducted with a group effort by the trio of Axl Rose, Billy Corigan and Scott Stapp.

If you mean first ballot because they actually debuted before with an album called Bleach in 89', which makes them eligible first anyway!
Pearl jam WILL go first ballot...I don't think there is any doubt about that!

aRe you out of your goddamn mind? I'm 100% PJ will get enough vote on their first try at RRHOF, no doubt about it! Same with Nirvana.
Just look at KROQ's recent Battle of the Bands. PJ made it to the final match and winning the 90's bracket, which included Nirvana.
When PJ are eligible in 2016 they will be in guaranteed!!!
