  • It may be too early to determine that a Backspacer song is under or over rated.

it rocks, it is oe of those songs that you set your alaarm too and when it plays you are ready to go!!
  • Given the lukewarm response I had heard early on, I was prepared not to like this one that much and ended up being pleasantly surprised. It's pretty f'in good, although I am still trying to figure out whether it meshes well thematically with the rest of the album. Perhaps with the whole theme of confronting mortality. In a way, though, the open on a depressing note and then go up from there.

    I'm still workin' on it.

Lyrically, I get the feeling this song came from one victim's desire to quit smoking.
  • I love it after the "Never to wash awaaaaaaaaaaaaay" part. its like they are shifting gears and slamming on the gas at that point in the song. Its awesome.

This thing just sounds ridiculously simple. I need to see the lyric sheet with this, but it seems utterly forgettable.

    This song surprised me.
Though it's simple, but till now it's my fav song of these fasters.

I like it far more than i.e. The Fixer or even Amongst the waves

Notice people never complain about Wishlist, Long Road, or Small Town for being too simple. Sometimes I think that there isn't anything to complain about so that's the best some can come up with. Songs don't have to be complex to be good. If you're clever, you can make some very simple things sound great. Look at bands like Dream Theater who are complex and very talented - they're amazing players, but uninteresting. As for Gonna See My Friend... love it!!!
