Are you effing kidding me? Oh man this is almost too much!!! I am too happy with this band right now to even start debating if they are selling out or not. If it makes me this damn happy who effing cares!!!

It's a banner DLC day here at Rock Band: For the first time ever, we're offering a full-album DLC on the same day of its general release. And we think the album is a future classic: Pearl Jam's Backspacer.

If you know everything about Pearl Jam, think again: Backspacer may be the loudest, fastest album the Seattle quintet has ever made, with lots of full-throttle, garage-inspired rock'n'roll. As guitarist Mike McCready explains in our exclusive interview, the album's celebratory mood just may have something to do with recent changed in the White House. Fans are already calling it one of Pearl Jam's best—Rolling Stone just noted it's got the "shortest, tightest, punkiest tunes they've ever banged out"—and even non-fans are giving the new sound a thumbs-up.

You've probably heard the single, "The Fixer", a snarling rocker about making the world a better place—and we at Rock Band have got to love a song that has "Yeah, yeah, yeah" in the chorus. That's not even the loudest song here though; check out the three-chord thriller "Gonna See My Friend," with a hot solo that McCready recommends you all have some fun with. That's not to say that you don't get to share some sensitive moments with Eddie Vedder, however; and on "Just Breathe" and "The End" you're invited to join him to contemplate the mysteries of life, death and love. It adds up to a new peak for Pearl Jam, and you can absorb it for the first time while you're playing it!

  • Kat, Why are some of your links below foofighters links? strange. Also, it seems it would be cheaper to buy the album from Target just to get the Rock Band songs for free with the code than to buy them from either the Xbox or PS3 store...

Yes it does. I have GH instruments and they all work with RB. Just need the game disc.

According to Kat's post, you can get away with RB1 which is probably cheaper than 2. I know on the PS3 it's like 10 bucks

  • Anyone know if all the Target albums will come with the RB codes? I remember reading somewhere that the albums that include the codes will be $29.99. Is that true, or will the $11.99 albums have the codes too?

  • I seriously doubt that the Target CDs will have the 2 live vault shows for free (which has been confirmed) AND the RB DLC for free. I'm just hoping that there will be a sale for the first week of the CD/Rock Band combo to bring it down a few bucks from the $29.99 price.

  • The thing I don't get about that is that it means the price od the CD/RB combo is the same as the items individually. What is the advantage to buying them together? You would think that they would either make it cheaper as a package or make the DLC available a early for Target customers, otherwise why bother purchasing it in the store?

  • Yeah, it's not a deal. I'll still get it as I'm almost out of Microsoft Points, so it's easier to just by the set than buy the album and MS points separately.

I was hoping the $29.99 edition would have something extra in addition to the code though--an art book, some live tracks etc. But oh well.

    VERY COOL!
  • Doesn't look like there will be any particular deal for this at Target as I saw a scan of the ad and it just lists the CD at the same price that Target is selling it for online. I assume that means that the CD/RB combo will also be the same price as online.

  • I love Rock Band and I've loved Pearl Jam from the beginning, so it's almost overwhelming how awesome this is. I think it's great that Pearl Jam are at a point where they're comfortable really putting themselves out there in new and exciting ways.

Oh, and there's going to be a Rock Band Pearl Jam stand-alone disc coming out next year....
    Don't it make you smile?

  • While I'm very excited for this, there are a few things that disapoint me.

    1) you can buy the album for cheaper in store than it will cost to buy on rock band.

    2) not every song has great features for every instrument

    3) the album is still pretty short, like a good rockband session can last from 30 minutes to an hour, you could essentially play the entire backspacer album in an easy sitting.

I'm still going to get it (and love it), just not too pleased about these 3 facts

  • My question is - will Rock Band owners still be able to get the Backspacer tracks if they preordered the album from the Ten Club instead of going to Target?

How I choose to feel is how I am.
  • Can you also buy it from the website in a few days?

YES, you will be able to buy the entire album OR select songs from within Rock Band or on the PSN for PS3. (I'm not sure how the Xbox does it.) The album will be available for download on Xbox360 on Tuesday and PS3 on Thursday.

Can someone please confirm the code in the $29.99 Target CD will work for the Wii as well? The description at the beginning of this thread and on Target's website refers only to Xbox 360 and PS3 - and not the Wii...

    Thanks

That's what I'm saying! Just listened to Backspacer for the 10th time, I think. IDGAF now about the fellas selling out or not. I'll look like a douche with my plastic guitar for a PJ Rockband.

  • wait so if i bought the deluxe edition at target and typed in the code on ps3 on sunday, i wouldn't receive them since i have to wait 4 days? if so that is stupid!

Yeah you cannot use the code on Sunday night. You have to wait for the respective game console makers to make the songs available on their network. Xbox on Tuesday, PS3 on Thursday.
