I also love The End as the album closer.

"I'm here,(music breaks) but not much longer." Silence

Perfect ending of an album. My favorite end to any album, it just hit me when I heard it for the first time.

    I agree 100% !!

    I LOVE the Entire Album!

As for the 'ITW' leftovers... I too think they are very ITW'ish... but I think they fit perfectly into the flow of the album. I was just thinking about how much difference there would be in the overall feel of Backspacer had ED not done ITW?? Fuels my belief that nothing is without reason or opportunity :)

I can't wait to hear all of these live!!

#3 - It seriously makes you want to start the record over and feel the happiness.

  • Great Album! Hands Down! Yes, it's not a long record, however the length of any record does not dictate the quality of the music. I believe several of these tracks will make into the regular live rotation. It does leave you wanting more, that's the great thing about music these days.....You want more, hit a button and listen again. This record will make you do just that. Listen Again.

There are some really nice tracks on this album, I actually really like The Fixer, Got Some (so good on the album), Amongst the Waves, Supersonic.

But as a whole it sounds more like a collection of songs than a cohesive album to me. Just my two cents. I obviously need to give it some more listens, but I don't think it'll ever be my favorite (but who knows, it would be great to be wrong). I also just really don't like how the albums ends. I think the End is just kind a downer as a song and it also just stops sort of abruptly.

Anyways, I hope everyone who gets to see the guys on this tour really enjoy the shows, I am totally jealous. Maybe if they're lucky the boys will make their true first appearance in Israel this year. Otherwise I'll just have to hope they make it to Europe and that I can scrounge up enough money to see them.

havent listened to the album yet...but doesn't death ("the end") sort of happen abruptly sometimes...maybe thats how they intended to end the song...i think its very artistic

in general im liking all the reviews...wasnt a huge fan of the last album but im really liking the idea of a 36min album

I think I am the only one here who is a bit disappointed (Sorry :( There are parts I think are really strong (Got Some, Johnny Guitar, Just Breathe, Unthought Known, Forces of Nature and the End). But for some reason Gonna See My Friend, The Fixer, and Supersonic aren't growing on me (yet). And I hate the fact that they have to grow on me (shouldn't be that way with PJ) -- I also agree with Paul that there doesn't seem to be a ton of cohesion or flow. Shit I may need to put it away for a while. Glad you guys are all loving it all.

I think people are missing the point of the End. The song is basically about a loved one in his death bed. Eddie does a great job of putting the listener right in the room with the soon to be dead. Just envision holding the hand of a loved at the exact moment that they pass away. You can even here their last gasp for air at the end. Its fucking brilliant!

Not sure how people would "miss the point" if "Eddie does a great job of putting the listener right in the room with the soon to be dead"...so either they aren't missing the point or Eddie doesn't do a good job. ;)

I just listened to the album again...

The End is absolutely captivating... beautiful and pleading and painfully exposed...

The end of THE END is almost jarring ... like someone switching off the lights and leaving you totally in darkness... quietness... to think about what just happened for the past 36 min...

then you go and hit 'play' again...

  • getting the album and listening to the songs is like going on a date........... you find things out at first and man this person is cool and i could see myself with them... or you find out this person is not for me ok lets get through this as good as possible.... songs change over time "black" means something totallly different to me now as it did 18 yrs ago... "who you are" changes constantly for me... right now if i heard the fixer again i would puke, i killed it waiting... but unthought known is great im going out with it tonite..... speed of sound not some much for me right now.... but later it could work out.....

but over all i think im in a room with models and am just picking the best of the best....

Exactly. I didn't miss the point. I understood the lyrics, and what Eddie was going for artistically. That still doesn't make it a good song (necessarily) or a good album closer.
