before you all bring out your pitch forks and walk to his house to string him up, I'd try everything to contact the dude by email, phone, letter even...and see if this is just an honest mistake.

What's everyone else's thoughts on knowing his real name?? Is it ethical for me to post it?

That would be wrong. Certainly not ethical (even if he behaviour was less than ethical!). I thinking posting name (and address as someone mentioned) could lead to something nasty/not very nice. What would be the legality of this? I'm thinking even giving his user name could be seen as dodgy (as some people may know him)..... Stay away from real names and personal details. He may come back and give a perfectly valid explanation.....

I actually REALLY hope, he has a good explanation, it sucks to have your faith in others shaken, especially when they are PJ fans. I really want him to be a good guy here. But as my friend AB/Aaron said (paraphrasing) recently "What? Not all PJ fans are unicorn smiles and puppy dogs?"- something like that.
  • Have you tried PM'ing him/her to ask and see what the deal is?
  • caveat to my suggestion to post his name - ONLY if you're 100% sure he ripped you off intentionally. If there's still a chance he made an honest mistake, make sure before you rip him using his real name.

Do you have his phone number? I'd leave him a couple of messages, give him a couple of days to reply - if he doesn't - you can be pretty sure he's a crook. Then you should burn him. Or report him to the police - taking something and cancelling the payment has to be illegal.
  • And if it is an honest mistake- Well massive mud in my face, and I will issue a public apology, do everything I can do to remove this thread, and then issue another apology about how much I suck. It could be a valid reason, hopefully. I would WAY rather be wrong and be a bitch than see a PJ'er do something like this (cuz y'know, we're all above everyone else and sooo without reproach, lol).

Never, ever heard of someone being able to cancel a transaction once they send the money and I've been an ebay/PayPal user for 10 years. I think it's simply shortage of funds in this person's bank. Good of you to contact PayPal, but did you try contacting the buyer as well? Shit happens, ya know? People make mistakes. I myself am notoriously bad at keeping my checking account balance in check. And if this person just posted here yesterday thanking you for the ticket, maybe this is just a big misunderstanding. I hope you've contacted this person and tried dialog, I mean, at least before pitch forks are wielded and the townsfolk here light their torches.

If? So no attempt to contact this person before flying off the handle?

That's the problem here. Posters here are too willing to join a witchhunt after only knowing some of the facts.

i hope it's just an honest mistake b/c that's a crappy thing to do. like someone mentioned earlier, he did post in the ACL thread the other day...maybe he/she had insufficient funds & it was rejected? i don't know---call PayPal & get ahold of the buyer. hope you guys can resolve this.

Yes, I have PM'd, emailed, and PayPal messaged. But... maybe he hasn't checked them yet.

  • And to avoid further controversy, I asked the moderator to change the thread title to something more... diplomatic.

I still see the word "thief" plastered all over people's reply subjects.

Yes... moderator hasn't responded, so all I can do is change mine... and hopefully he eventually responds to my bombardment of messages sent earlier in the day. Like I said, I fully accept role of pariah if that is how this turns out.

I agree, this is probably just a shortage of funds and hopefully the guy will realize it and fix the problem. However, if he is indeed a crook then there isn't much you can do. I was ripped off on a ebay auction once where the guy paid with paypal and then had it canceled once I had shipped the item. I contacted paypal and they did an investigation and so did ebay. In the end there wasn't anything done and I was just shit out of luck. Lesson learned though...never never never send anything until you get the money in hand.

I will duck for cover when the appropriate objects are thrown at me if I am wrong :?

And... with all the admonitions from everyone, I am becoming uneasy... I hope I was not too hasty... but the situation, involving what is a lot of money to me, threw me into turmoil and I wasn't thinking so clearly. But I think -I have a feeling- I am right, just from some indications.
