Opening for PJ just announced on Philly radio.......................wait for it, wait for it, wait for it.............................................................

Tuesday and Wed......Social Distortion
Friday and Sat.........Bad Religion

Yeah what a let down. Why in the world does everyone else get to see Ben and R7? I mean I know we got spoiled with 4 shows and I am going to all 4 but comon! It says special Guest on the ticket. I was expecting someone extra special. Social Distortion is good and all but Ben and R7 are extra special.

Oh and by the way i have listened to a certain album and it kicks major ass!!!!!!!

  • What a big let down.

I haven't heard much from either BR or SD but i will give them a chance.
Drop, drop, dropping it down...oh, so gently...

  • I cannot understand why anyone would feel let down by this news. This is some of the best news I've heard in a long time!!!

Not for me, but I didnt create crazy expectations on the opener either so I'm not let down... just not thrilled or anything.
  • I am psyched about Social Distortion. I love them.

  • Kinda bummed...going to last 2 shows. Would much rather see Social Distortion than Bad Religion. Oh well :(
    PJ FANS ROCK!!!

Finally got that "One for the Thumb"!!! Got the "Six Pack". Now we're on a "Stairway to Seven"

Most tickets say this and all tickets say this if an opener hasn't been announced yet. Everyone who is let down by this news of SD and BR opening iit is your own fault for getting ridiculously high hopes from something as common as tickets saying "with Special Guest". SD and BR are cool but that doesn't even really matter because it's a Pearl Jam show that's all that matters.

Bad Religion is one of the best punk bands of all time. In Chicago seeing Bad Religion was like a show in and of itself. Fans should feel privelaged, not let down! If you're let down, just stand outside and drink a beer. Really though, I'd give Bad Religion a whirl... they are/were very very good.

My two favorite bands in one night. Sick!

I'm also pumped because there is a very good chance that I'll get to meet PJ! A friend of mine is related to Bad Religion and has gotten me backstage before. Check out the pic below. That's Brooks (BR's drummer) in the center and me on the left (and one of my best friends on the right). You can see their bass player, Jay, in the background, too. Met Greg as well. All awesome dudes! Hopefully things work out that well in Philly!

I love Ben Harper. I have my entire back covered in Ben Harper themed tattoos. That said, having Social Distortion open 2 nights and Bad Religion 2 nights may just be the coolest f'n thing ever.

So, you said Bad Religion and Social Distortion were a "let down" and you admit to listening to a certain album. I vote you get banned.

I am going to both Seattle shows and I would gladly trade you Ben Harper & R7 for EITHER of those to bands.

    GLADLY!

i can't tell if this is an honest question or you're trying to knock them but they don't really have any "hits" outside of the punk scene. inside that scene, they have entire albums that are huge. doesn't mean shit as far as how great of a band they are.
  • Anyone complaining about Social Distortion or Bad Religion opening these shows needs to have their fucking head examined. :)
  • Hmmm... Glad I'm going to Seattle, can't miss 2 of my favorites playing in the same show.

Well, the ones they had videos for are the ones I would say were closest to "hits" ... these three had pretty regular radio play on my "alt rock" station. Closest thing to Bad Religion "hits" that I can think of ...

  • I would LOVE to see BR. They were on the bill when PJ was set to play Park City in 95...and then we got rained out. Who did we get as a replacement when the make up shows came around? The Fastbacks. Say no more.

  • As a philly girl, especially on the closing nite of the spectrum, i would have liked to see a band who means something to philly and the spectrum. dont get me wrong, i love social distortion and bad religion. but the last nite of the spectrum is momentous for philly and, even though i am not a fan of billy joel or bon jovi at all, at least they have significance to the venue (they both have banners in the spectrum for # of times played...bruce and the dead have em as well).
