Doing my best not to cave in. Hearing such great reports on how the album sounds is making me savor the wait, in a good way. It's getting easier as the album should be here by Sunday. Some of us could not wait... but for those who have successfully waited, lets hear from you!

FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK!

FIRE!

I'm still waiting patiently. I've heard Got Some on Conan, The Fixer, and Supersonic (just once), and that's it.

I'm just hoping the vinyl arrives at the same time, so I can give this album a proper listening! 8-)

Drop, drop, dropping it down...oh, so gently...

  • I'm still holding out. Difficult as it may be!

  • I wouldn't say I'm a complete virgin, I did watch "Got Some" on Conan and have been hearing "The Fixer" everywhere, but that's it. I would say I'm much less experienced than a lot of other fans, on Backspacer that is. ;)

still waiting and my ears and thoughts are completely pure!

this is a special occasion- blast this band, it only happens once every couple or few years. I dont want to ruin it with an illegal leak etc. i want it to be a true experience like when i was a kid. I used to run home with a new record/tape/cd, run up in my bedrooom lock the door and spread out on the floor and digest the lyrics, the music, and the album's artwork all while listening my first few times.

only a few more days to go. it will be easy for pearl jam has got some for me for being patient

Still holding out myself! It will be fun to get up and go to target and pick up Vinyl and the CD! Then proceed to watch football for 10 hours straight with PJ intermissions.

  • I'm still waiting, looks like I'll have to wait until next saturday to finally buy it  because I'm working in a pretty deserted area with no record shops nearby and when I get home in the evening all the record shops are closed...

anyway I'm really glad I didn't listen to anything except got some and the fixer, I know it will be a great experience to discover it all in one go and from what I've heard so far I think it's probably going to be one of my favorite albums
  • Still waiting, other than whats been released by the band (Fixer/Supersonic) and I watched Got Some on Conan, the demo for the artwork contest (only once though) and the "making of backspacer" video.

    NOW HURRY UP CD.
I am right by your side...

Present and accounted for... with the following exceptions : the Fixer (It sounds so good to hear on the radio), Got Some on Conan (Is there anyone out there that dared miss this performance?), and a snippet of Just Breathe (from the making-of doc). I believe new Pearl Jam music deserves more than acquainting itself by means of shitty sound quality while staring at the computer. Actually, I became an advocate of abstinence until the release date long before I was introduced to the seduction of the internet. Time now for a jaunt down memory lane.
Throughout '94, commercial radio would play "Betterman" and "Already in Love" (as it was called at the time) from the Atlanta broadcast like they were MTV mega-hit singles. I was also overtly familiar with NFY from religiously watching my taped video of their SNL performance. Then came the first single, STBC, in the fall; athough its B-side, Tremor Christ, ended up getting more airtime. At some point I even recorded Corduroy on cassette. Can you believe there was actually a time when Corduroy was a NEW song! Since Vitalogy had the distinction of being the first new album I bought since becoming a fan I was energized with excitement but all I was left with was 4 previously unheard songs, not counting the weird ones (eg. pry to, bugs). Since then, I've refrained myself from being exposed to an upcoming PJ record before it is held in my hands. I've learned that anticipation pays off. After all, most people can only hold onto the nostalgic thrill remembering what it was like to open gifts on Christmas morning as a kid. To be able to relive that feeling authentically with every new PJ album is something rare indeed and not to be taken for granted, no matter how tempting.
