When I was at work unloading a truck this morning, what should I come across but a box for electronics marked "Pearl Jam Backspacer." It got locked up, but it's nice to know it's waiting patiently (unlike me) for Sept. 20.

How did you resist the urge to kick your boss in the crotch and run off with the goods?

I worked at Target when Yield came out. It got to our store two weeks before it was released.... I could not resist the urge. . . . I didnt kick anyone, but i did take two copies to the checkout and bought them a full 10 days before it was released.

I dont think that works out so well anymore ... most stores have it in their system that they can't sell until a certain day. I've had a few things that got put out early denied when I went to checkout. Boo to them, I say ;)
  • My wife imagined it like me saying "I'll go take care of these," and then I wouldn't be seen again for an hour.
  • Dude, go back and ask your boss for a glimpse at it. Say you just want to look. See if you can sneak a peek at the T-Shirt, then MAKE SURE you take a pic! Then update this thread IMMEDIATELY!!!!
Wait.... are t-shirt leaks against policy?

What do you mean T-shirt with the CD?

    See you all in Philly!!!!
  • You need to get your boss into PJ. Then, when the new stuff arrives you can both sneek a peak and listen.
Or like "over bends" said, kick 'em in the junk and make off with the goods.
  • I doubt this was a version of T-shirt and CD packaged together, because it was in the normal CD box. Though I think I've heard (here, of course) that there will be a version of just CD and one with a shirt.

I don't remember reading anything about the tshirt being packaged with the cd... Just Target exclusive designed tshirt, with some proceeds going to charity if I'm not mistaken.

I actually did the same thing when I was working at BJ's Wholesale Club back in 98. The Loss Prevention manager was also a huge PJ fan as well and let me buy my copy about a week early!
  • I think you should check out the QUALITY of the product. Don't want any Target shoppers being disappointed!!!

They are also at my Target. We have 406 of them. I had one in my hands, but had to put it back. I hope the ten club ones come before sunday.

I remember when LO2L came out, I went to Barnes & Noble the night before just to see if it was for any reason available. I caught an employee with a box of them and he was about to put the box under the shelves for the night. I told him I was a huge fan and really wanted to take a look at it. He looked at me a little leary and asked "Ok, but please promise me you won't take one and run, ok?".

Needless to say, it looked good that night, but I came back in the morning to buy it.

I was in Target last night, and they had the T-shirt out for sale. I did not get a picture, sorry. It was $20, and $5 went back to charity. The shirt had the spaceman from the album cover on it, and said Pearl Jam in the backspacer font.

It was in the Men's clothing department. Hanging on the rack with Merona polo shirts in the target by me. Looked kind of out-of-place. It was black, and they looked like slim fit T's. I'm a big guy, and therefore did not get one  The material was organic cotton.

thats could only mean one thing THE RECORD STORE BY ME IS SELLING IT ALREADY!!!!!! ...... they always put them on the shelves the second they get any new LP.... ...il have to pass by on my way home from work today...... THANKS FOR THE POST..... and if you live on LONG ISLAND head down to babylon ....you know the record store im talking about ..its a "CIMS" shop just like Easy Street ...

get back to you guys later today to tell how it is
have you seen the colors of my fathers eyes
  • A couple of years ago I picked up a Black Crowes CD, brought it to the register, and they confiscated it. Apparently they weren't allowed to sell it yet (it had been recalled). Their computers didn't allow the salesperson to ring me up.
Hopefully if any of you do find BS on the shelves, you don't run into this scenario. It's far worse to have a new CD taken out of your hands than to not have it at all.
