    I like them limited
makes me feel like I have something special

even if I have to pay a bit extra for it

but I think the sudden announcements are for the birds tweet tweet

but otherwise, the presale is a great idea and a longtime coming.

  • There will be so many of these at the show and after....this is just not a concern. I got shut out of the presale, too, but there have been stacks and stacks at every show. Anyone who wants one will be able to get one. The days of limited (and valuable) posters are behind us...

  • the 10C sent the email at 7:35pm EST and I think Santos may have posted a little earlier than that.. how is that the middle of the night? :?

its also right b4 the presidential address...i guess i shoulda been on the Forums beforehand instead of eating dinner or watching the address or working

edit: basically if you dont have email alerts/internet on your phone then youre gonna be S.O.L. in the future....wishing i had the extra $40/month to spend on blackberry or iphone

I dont have a blackberry or an iPhone and yesterday I had homework for my children and myself coming out of my ears it took me all of 5 minutes to check my email before I had dinner and order the posters.

The current economy has definately put a dent in merch/poster sales, but the days of valuable posters are certainly not behind us, my friend.......

One of us's kids will be on antiques roadshow one day with a bunch of PJ merch.......mark my words!!!! :D

I certainly hope that's the case, but I don't think so. I believe the economy is to blame for the overall drop in prices for older PJ posters (a msg 2003 sold for $100 the other day). But for posters to have value, they need to be limited in some way. For the newer posters, there are too many printed and too many collecting for them to ever attain a high value. Some actually lose value these days.

The vast majority of posters will settle in around $40-50, and will stay there. There will always be one or two exceptions. I'm not saying any of this is a bad thing. I get the posters to the shows I go to, not for value...

If the other shows this tour are setup as Chicago was, the days of expensive posters from 09 shows are not going to come. That said... I'm sure theyll still have some shows where the runs are smaller, but I doubt Philly will be less than Chicago.

I don't think I'm a bigger fan, I was expecting for these posters to go on sale sometime soon and I checked my email throughout the day to make sure I didn't miss it, there was no science to it.
Sometimes you score sometimes you don't. When the 2006 towels went on sell through the 10C i was nowhere close to a computer, and I missed out, 10C's fault? not really, my fault? dont think so either, just bad luck.

In twenty years, when many of these posters have been lost, destroyed, damaged, etcetera......that's when the 'value' will be determined, it'll also depend on the nostalgia/legacy of Pearl Jam after they are disbanded for whatever reason...just my take on it, not that it even matters....my son and daughter can fight over the posters after I am dead and buried.I'm not selling 'em! :)

I know that if I do not check the board/site at least twice on my day off from work, I will miss something I do not want to miss......just how it works with me....so every Monday and Wednesday I am all over the site with my fingers crossed....this time I lucked out! :)

My dad collects uber-rare coins and stamps. Priceless stuff really, some coins a few thousand years old. Truly items which have 1000x more value than anyone's poster collection. He keeps planning for the future and says "when I go, I'll leave you with the name and number of who to sell everything to".

He's invested in them purely for his own enjoyment... and made a few bucks on some, but he's only bought what he likes. He doesn't expect anyone in our family to want to keep them, so he's already planning our liquidation of them.

...so, I don't think that even the most serious of poster collectors are really going to care what happens to the posters after we're gone. :)

(but still, create more Halloween posters!! there's plenty of time!)
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

Weird - I kinda got the sense that the run was to be determined on the volume of the preorder. Would have been nice to see a note in the email/announcement saying "*AMOUNTS ARE LIMITED"

    - A LIMITED QUANTITY OF POSTERS WILL BE SOLD FOR EACH SHOW

Not really sure what crawled up your ass and died. I wasn't trying to be mean...just never noticed anyone with so many posts...I got a kick out of it...I really didn't mean any harm.

FYI...if I feel like posting a message on the forums...I'll do just that...even if it doesn't relate to the original thread. This isn't the Middle East. Relax little person :)

LOL. I'm super relaxed. Just wasn't sure what the point of your first post was. Thanks for clearing it up though.

How do you feel about the poster situation for 10/31?

I'm a professional art dealer... and I'd be just as happy with an open-edition print as I would be with an AP. :)

I like the limited edition way instead of open edition...even though I've had to pay 2-3 times the price on eBay for some posters. HOWEVER...if PJ released all material in an open-edition format (vinyl, posters etc) then I'd be for open-edition.
