    Cool thanks, cool video!

At the start of Mr Self Destruct, what is that banging noise meant to be?
It is kinda freaky and weird.

I've been listening to Year Zero a lot lately... it's actually really, really good. The last few songs in particular. Love when everything blows up in The Great Destroyer. Awesome.
And I planted my bolo knife in the neck of mad John Finn. I took his wretched life.
Now I'm over near the bandstand, every hand moving on John Finn's wife...

IMO The Downward Spiral = Velvet Underground & Nico of the 90's.

Watched Beside You In Time on Blu-Ray last night in a dark room on my huge LCD tv.
    Awesome experience.

I have been listening to The Fragile recently.
    Left or right disc?
I like the Left better, the right I am trying to love, few good songs but the rest don't really do much for me.

I think the left disc is stronger, bit too much filler on the other one.

I'm on a major NIN kick at the moment, I would kill to see them live right now :(

The left disc owns, in reality the right could be pared down and added to the left for a stronger, more cohesive single record. Classic Double album-itis syndrome. How many really great double albums are there where every song should be there? I can think of 3.. Wall, White Album and Mellon Collie.

    work = work + 1;

I like every song on The Fragile, it's a phenomenal record. The Left disc, though, is the single best disc NIN have ever put out.

Just Like You Imagined...one of NIN's absolute best. Particularly the live version from And All That Could Have Been.
  • :the downward spiral has always done it for me, an audible time machine to the 90's... 8-)

The more I listen to The Fragile the more I like it.
Not sure why it doesn't get good reviews from critics?

Next to Ghosts which I just tossed aside, Year Zero is probably my least favorite. The Fragile is very underrated, though. Probably because it had to follow TDS and it took so long to come out, people had such high expectations for it. With Teeth took me a while to get into. I had high expectations for it following The Fragile and was kinda disappointed.
  • Personally, I enjoy both sides but if I had to choose I'd probably go with the right side.

Trent Reznor hints Nine Inch Nails will release a new full-length album next year
Trent Reznor has said that Nine Inch Nails may release a new full-length album in 2012.

The musician, who has just completed work on the soundtrack for David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo film, has confirmed that he will resume work under the moniker of Nine Inch Nails in earnest next year. He last released a full album under the name Nine Inch Nails in 2008 with 'The Slip'.

Speaking to The Sun, Reznor said that his focus was now very much on Nine Inch Nails, saying: "Nine Inch Nails is not dead by any means, but all the touring and record writing has been thrown off for a little bit. I highly expect that to be the focus of 2012 in terms of writing and we may see a full-length release even".

Reznor also revealed that he took inspiration from David Bowie when he decided to temporarily abandon Nine Inch Nails in favour of new project How To Detroy Angels and work on the soundtracks of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and the Oscar winning The Social Network.

He said of this: "It started to feel like if I didn't force myself into a change I would regret it. It's a fear of not wanting to try things because you're in a comfort zone. I always think about my hero David Bowie and his fearlessness to destroy something that isn't ready to break yet and start something new".

He continued: "He'd throw out an identity, confuse his audience and it's a great risk career-wise. But he had the balls and didn't milk it out to the last drop".

Trent Reznor's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo soundtrack, which he has composed with Atticus Ross, will be released later today, with a sampler, consisting of six tracks, available for free download now from Dragontattoo.sandbaghq.com.

The remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has been directed by David Fincher and stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. It will be released in UK cinemas on December 26. You can watch the trailer for the film by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.

When Trent did a "Wave Goodbye" tour and basically told everyone he was done with NIN for a while, I didn't expect it to be only 3-4 years before he was doing it again. Not that I'm complaining, but it took him 5 years to put out The Fragile after The Downward Spiral and 6 years to put out With Teeth after The Fragile, this is nothing.

I had such a good concert year this year that I was telling my buddy the only way it could have been better was with a NIN show. God I miss them, even though it really hasn't been that long.

I agree that I'm surprised it's this quick but when you think about it, I'd say we won't see a new album until 2013 (possibly late in the year) with a tour (if there is one) to follow in 2014 so we're still a while away from seeing a full comeback.

So who has picked up either the 6 track FREE Girl with the Dragon Tattoo sampler, or the whole movie soundtrack? I've listened to the 6 track sampler and it is very good (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross). I've just bought the whole soundtrack but haven't listened to the whole thing yet.

Been listening to this band since Pretty Hate. The band has progressed alot.

Still love Downward Spiral! With my least favorite being With Teeth. :?

Year Zero has grown a lot on me since I saw them live
and the "epic" marketing strategy that went behind it's release.

It took me a long time to see these guys.
    Then I saw them 2 in 6 months.(Pemberton Festival/Victoria.B.C)

Live I would have to say is one of the best shows out there.

    NiN,Tool,SOAD live anyways(Intensity/Delivery /Visuals)

Hope he does some more NIN stuff after his Soundtrack
run.Soft/Hard I guess you gotta have both. ;)

Its funny, With Teeth for me is one of my top 3 NIN albums, with Pretty Hate Machine & The Slip.. but honestly I haven't had the longstanding love affair for the band that a lot of you have. I was intro'd to PHM in University a couple years before With Teeth came out so I've probably listened to the newer stuff more. I do have TDS & Fragile but haven't really given them a good listen. Add that to the list of things to do this weekend.

I listened to 3/4 of the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo soundtrack last night while wrapping Xmas gifts and I'm still astonished over the level of talent Trent Reznor has with just about all he does.
life is the study of dyin'
and how to do it right
