They don't have "musical intelligence." Apparently you don't have to have musical talent, per se, to have musical intelligence. It's just one of the forms of intelligence.

I've never been into weed, been into music since about birth.

yeah, i'm talking about the people who just don't like ANY kind of music, even the shitty pop stuff.

i mean, i can't imagine how they are wired.

my freshman year roommate never listened to music. when i fist got my room assignment i called him up to find out what he would be bringing... and to brag about the giant stereo system i was bringing up to school....which segued into my question to him about what type of music he listen to... he said "i dont listen to music"...i was totally crushed...

he was this tall lanky white kid...real anti social type..

one day i came back from class and he was listening to puff daddy...he jumped up and turned it off, like he was guilty of something when he realized he came in... it was so odd...

yeah it was puff daddy but at least it was music
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...

i dont smoke weed and i love supersonic and music. its retarded to think ppl need to smoke weed to 'get music'.
  • my wife fits the category of someone that's not very into music, though she does enjoy PJ and understands my obsession. she went to a lot of blues traveler shows when she was in high school, but doesn't own ANY music, iPod, etc. she mostly listens to npr or talk radio in the car (unless i'm along of course). she likes music but she just doesn't "get into" it to the point that she needs it like i do. i'd go batshit nuts without it.

What's retarded is people using that word loosely like you just did! I'm fucking sick of it! Have some respect!

  • There is something wrong with them and they have no emotions or soul.

    Just my opinion.

That's kind of harsh. No emotions or soul??

One of my closest friends owns the soundtracks to Footloose, Dirty Dancing, and some Disney movie, and that's about it. Sometimes I wonder how we've become such good friends.

wow, really? it never occurred to you that some people might have relatives or children that have challenges?
  • I had a friend some years ago that called music "background noise"...she'd put the radio on if there was a party but she didn't own cd's or enjoy a particular genre. She thought my NEED for music was odd & told me that she didn't see the point. She was also on a shit load of antidepressants the entire time I knew her. Maybe a little PJ obsession would have done her some good.

To me, music is another element that I need to survive...with or without weed.

Yeah like me! My little brother who is a year younger than me is retarded....and i find it disgusting that the use of the word retarded in that way has grown so quickly. And pineappleandwaves' comment "Respect? For what" is just fucking wrong. That one comment just showed me s/he's a fuckwit!

I don't think you need to smoke weed to "get into" music.

Kind of sad if that's the case actually.

Sorry, I was just skimming and was focussed on the whole smoking weed/listening to music thing (thought she was looking for respect on that front). Again, sorry for the misunderstanding. I'll read more carefully in the future.

This is where I thought this thread had led to and what I was referring to in my previous post.

I think you either love music or you don't.

Sure, if you're a music lover, alcohol/drugs may enhance your experience, which i know first hand, but if you're not "into" music, I don't know if alcohol/drugs is going to do anything for you.

I'm happy to be judged based on one comment (which was a misunderstanding)!

Long live tolerance, patience, and understanding!

What about the use of the word "fuck"? I don't think you should pass judgement on somebody unless your God. I really don't think he meant to use the word to offend you.

It's not me I'm worried about offending....

understood, and big of you to man up. don't mean to be preachy or overly pc but most of us are still semi-strangers so it's courteous to be mindful of wording posts (though obviously on any site there will be people that trample that sentiment without a second thought).
