People who don't really "get into" music very much

  • I had a friend some years ago that called music "background noise"...she'd put the radio on if there was a party but she didn't own cd's or enjoy a particular genre. She thought my NEED for music was odd & told me that she didn't see the point. She was also on a shit load of antidepressants the entire time I knew her. Maybe a little PJ obsession would have done her some good.

To me, music is another element that I need to survive...with or without weed.

    Respect? For what?

wow, really? it never occurred to you that some people might have relatives or children that have challenges?

Yeah like me! My little brother who is a year younger than me is retarded....and i find it disgusting that the use of the word retarded in that way has grown so quickly. And pineappleandwaves' comment "Respect? For what" is just fucking wrong. That one comment just showed me s/he's a fuckwit!

I don't think you need to smoke weed to "get into" music.

Kind of sad if that's the case actually.

Sorry, I was just skimming and was focussed on the whole smoking weed/listening to music thing (thought she was looking for respect on that front). Again, sorry for the misunderstanding. I'll read more carefully in the future.

This is where I thought this thread had led to and what I was referring to in my previous post.

I think you either love music or you don't.

Sure, if you're a music lover, alcohol/drugs may enhance your experience, which i know first hand, but if you're not "into" music, I don't know if alcohol/drugs is going to do anything for you.

What about the use of the word "fuck"? I don't think you should pass judgement on somebody unless your God. I really don't think he meant to use the word to offend you.

It's not me I'm worried about offending....

understood, and big of you to man up. don't mean to be preachy or overly pc but most of us are still semi-strangers so it's courteous to be mindful of wording posts (though obviously on any site there will be people that trample that sentiment without a second thought).

    Okay....you've just stated that it was a misundestanding.....I apologise......you're not a fuckwit.

However, if you did say that in relation to my comment (which you didn't), in my eyes you would indeed be a fuckwit. I have no tolerance, patience or understanding for people like that.....AT ALL....and never will.

  • Smoking and listening to music is undoubtedly a great combo...although I'll have to say recently when I've smoked and watched some various movies, the acting seems extremely bad...so bad it makes me laugh my ass off! Anyone else ever get this? lol...guess I'll just stick to the tunes.

**although I laughed really, really hard after I fired one up and watched Nachoooooo Libre haha. It was the most enjoyment I've gotten from smoking and watching a movie since the original release of Anchorman.

I can understand where you're coming from by saying that. It's totally boring not to like music of any kind, imho. Strange.

well of coarse im sorry if i offended and of coarse i didnt mean anything by it - but please get of your high horse for one minute because at the end of the day the topic is weed and music - so to give me on a lecture about respect for retards when you're the one who talks about doing something (smoking weed) that actually makes ppl retarded in the long run is pretty pathetic ... so dont go picking fights just because i used a word loosly even though - and yes - i shouldnt have.
... i really wish ppl would just stop picking fights because they feel words will 'win' them something in front of a monitor..

  • I don't think weed makes a difference, or alcohol or anything else. I've just listened to Binuaral through my headphones and it was just as sonic an experience as when I used to get high. If it is good music, it sounds good with or without the stimulants.

However, if it is bad music, weed can make it sound better. Hell, I even used to listen to my housemate's continual fucking techno at uni without complaint just because we spent 5 years shooting bongs.

Personally, I'd say, always listen to great music and "just say no" kids.
we're all going to the same place...

oh well, i don't really know anyone who doesn't 'like' music to some degree....tho i know a LOT of people who music has zero priority in their lives, and/or people who never listen to music at all, but sure, enjoy it out at a bar, at a party, dancing, etc. both my parents were like this and most of my extended family. amazingly, i and both of my sisters got heavily "into" music all as young teens, so who knows how it all works?

Different strokes for different folks. Nothing to do with weed. I don't 'get' Nascar, sports or embroidery, or hiking, and there are those who are absolutely obsessive on those things.
