There's a huge difference between PJ's early albums and more recent albums.

Ten - I can listen to the whole way thru. All GREAT songs
VS - I almost exclusively listen to it the whole way thru. Best album IMO.
Vitalogy - Some of the best songs, but not really a cohesive mix.
No Code - An eclectic collection, but definitely can listen as a whole album
Yield - Somewhat of a whole album, but never stuck together as an album as much as the others.

...the rest of the albums seam more like a collection of songs than they do "albums", particularly Riot Act. A lot of great songs, but not really an "album" to me.

Anyway, I'll probably skip The Fixer after the first couple of full listens. It seems that they created this song to be popular to make money on the album and make money thru the radio, and less for the craft of it. ...but that's just my opinion. It's all over the radio, so, I think their strategy is working. The Fixer is kinda like a McDonald's hamburger... designed for mass consumption (though I'm a vegetarian :) )

Yield- Somewhat of a whole album???????????????????? I just fainted.

    So did I.

I find myself skipping Worldwide Suicide to this day because I think I heard it soooo many times on the radio before the album came out. But, I love the Fixer so I won't be skipping it anytime soon.

Why would I skip a good song?

The only exceptions I can think of are Vitalogy and Pinkerton by Weezer. I pop the disc before the last track on both discs. Because they suck enough to make me want to lay my head on a burning pillow, and also just shoot my head with a gun, and also drown.
Dude, the last song on Pinkerton is great.

Probably yes, the same I do now even having 4 songs of Backspacer in my mp3 player.
I just hope there won't be weaker song than The Fixer on new album.

The Fixer has really grown on me. After seeing it live I really like it now.

The only PJ song that I have ever skipped is Parachutes. I've tried and tried with the little bugger but, like a ginger stepchild, there's just no room for it in my heart!

  • I totally love this song, especially after seeing it live. I think its almost a perfect example of how a song can be catchy and doesn't have to mean nothing.

Dude, the last song on Pinkerton is great.

Any meandering ballad with the lyric, "If I'm a dog then you're a bitch" does not qualify as "great" to me. I cringe every time I hear that. I don't care what tone it's supposed to be in.

Back on topic, Fixer live is epic balls to the wall tits melting awesomeness. I was not too keen on the song at first. It began to grow on me a smidge to where I could listen to it and get it stuck in my head for full-day-hummage. Once I saw it in TO, however, I realized who sweet it is at a show.

Of course, live Fixer supremity has no impact whatsoever on album Fixer skipability, but just remember next time you skip it: if it were live, melty tits.

No definitely not. I think its' gonna be one of the tracks on the album that hangs it all together. It's what Hail Hail was to No Code.

I like The Fixer, but I know Hail Hail and that song, sir, is no Hail Hail.

i can't beileve you crazy fools don't like Parachutes? my goodness.

the only song i regularly skip is "In Thin Air" and not because i don't like it, but because when they first played it at Bridge in 99 I was sent a CD of the show and I THRASHED it and NAIS. For some reason NAIS survived, but In Thin Air was forever scarred and I skip it more often than not.

    My own fault. Not Stone's.

I was at both of those Bridge shows, and those two songs will forever remind me of seeing them being played live for the first time - that is why they will always be held near and dear to my heart.
