maybe not the ultimate version only because the entire band is not present,
( so sorry to all the Boom fans )
the version they played on the Telethon for Heroes after 9-11.
Uncle Neil sings with them , its one of the more heartfelt versionbs i can recollect, perhaps thats because of the timing and everything else to do with it .
For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside
That it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive

There's also a version that aired on VH1 where him and another singer chant during the latter part of the song (I know the other singer's name but don't want to attempt to spell it without looking it up). Great version!! It might be up on Gremmie.
Nusrat fateh ali Khan possibly from the Dead man walking soundtrack

San DIego 2006, probably because my name is Clayton.
That's mine too...my name ain't Clayton though. To me the story before the song on that one adds so much emotion and meaning to the performance....I haven't heard a better one yet
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow
They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
I got to see Constitution Hall '98, Mansfield Night 3 and San Diego '06 in person.
I still think Tribute to Heroes is hands down the heaviest version ever
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
That one is my favorite and a moment in my life that I will NEVER forget. I was row 2 center stage and cried my eyes out. It's on the Touring Band dvd...I was SOOOOOO proud to see it there, as the first song.
It was such a gorgeous desert night with a beautiful breeze, outdoor concert. It was PURE ORGANIC MAGIC.
Such a beautiful memory eched into my brain, forever. *sigh*
I was there as well, just mesmerized by that song that night, and as others have said, the boys took the stage right at the end of a major monsoon storm. It rained like a mother all night too, I drove to Vegas that night to see the 10th anniversary show, and that was some scary driving that evening. Totally worth it though. Anyways, I have seen threads about Long Road's best version before, and Phoenix 2000 seems to always come up. Nice to know that a lot of other people agree that it was one of the stronger versions of that song.

first time and pretty sweet
Heroes is awesome with Neil
to be honest Chicago was pretty fucking good.
Overall the version for Dead Man Walking is my favorite (with Nurstat Fateh Ali Khan) I think that version is Ed's best vocals ever
I still think Tribute to Heroes is hands down the heaviest version ever
