i heard the entire album three times through yesterday and tried to let everyone know about it here on the board, unfortuantely the thread turned into people complaining over leaked music/illegal downloading. No i didnt illegally download it my friend who has connections brought it over my house cause he knew how much of a fan i was, so no bitching from anyone, ok? This album reminds me of riot act music wise and the lyrics are ten times better cause theres no blatant politics(that i could pick up on) that killed riot act, any questions ill try to remember and answer them to the best of my ability.

yeah i did but after listening to a TON of pj yesterday, i decided it warranted an extra half star...haha very clean sound to it, which i like, the most boom we've heard as well, unless thats brendan playing keys, not 100% on that, eds voice really shines on this record, he "sings" amazing on this record, unlike the screaming of s/t
  • Riot Act?

I wouldn't rule it out. A song like Green Disease would be one that I could say musically reminds me a lot of the little clips we've heard so far. Not to mention Thumbing My Way and Just Breathe
  • It's funny how one album always sounds like "another" album. I remember that some claimed that RA sounded like Yield. (Or Vitalogy or any other given album that is your favourite.) To me each album stands on its own, but I do understand that you want to put the album in a context...

Do you have a track to track discription or did you already write that?

That's what I'd like to see as well. Not to get on you or anything, but if you are BS'ing (not that you are), we'd be able to call you out on it soon. We all know about the parts from the clips, but what could you add to say abuot each track.

gonna see my friends, although i cant tell if its stone or mike on this song, like i said yesterday, mikes playing isnt the usual wah wah all the time, its pretty cool, just hard for me to adjust my ears for it, johnny guitar is has a cool little guitar medley at the end although unfortuately its faded out(like half the tracks) amongst the waves has an epic guitar throughout no doubt best guitar song on the album, force of nature has a cool outro

I've been wondering if Mike's "patterns" as Eddie calls them in that Backspacer promo vid were going to be a big departure from his wah wah solos and with the 'short' song lengths wasn't sure how he would fit them in anyway. Cheers for the impressions mate!

  • i want to know all about unthought known. is it much the same as eddie's acoustic version ? does it have the same tempo, but with the rest of the band ? cheers :D
...Pearl Jam, a group filled with pride, passion, and intricate musicianship. Their music is full of subtle textures, rich color, soul-searching power, imagery, and eerie dissonance.

yeah got some-green disease/save you, just breathe-thumbing but both backspacer tracks are miles better imo, songs like force of nature and unthought known seemed to grow on me with each listen, ones that probably wont be played much live cause they're not as poppy as the rest of the album, speed of sound has ed really in a dark place, his tone and cadance are almost painfully monotaneous and stone has a cool rifffor the chorus that was evil and cool

how different is speed of sound on album compared to demo version?
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...

I'm interested too. I love Ed's live version more than anything I've heard yet. I hope the studio version isn't a let down.

When Ed said that, it made me think of Mike's lead on Yield. It had a couple face-melters, but most of his solos on that record were shorter and more melodic.
  • lyrics! lyrics! lyrics!

    And your one lucky bastard!

People are hearing this album, one song is played at a sport event, and the album doesn't leak. Strange times indeed...

hadnt heard eds acoustic version so dont know but its a midtempo song with cool lyrics from ed, i had read somewherethat this wasa mccready song, which again surprised me cause seems like an ed composition, another fade out track with mccready giving an uplifting solo atthe end, otherthan amongst the waves probably the coolest guitar part by mccready, although the song seems a little choppy music wise until the final chorus/solo/fadeout
