Does ACL have the same thing that Bonnaroo has- where they have a line to get into the Pit and they empty it after each band/artist? I thought that was the coolest thing and it gives everyone an opportunity to get into the Pit for their favorite band- without wasting your day infront of a stage where you might want to check out other stages.

no its a huge field with a barracade surrounding the stage.. If you want front row , be at Zilker at 12 noon Sunday and prepare to rot in the Texas heat, which hopefully is not so bad -
Not me. Too much good music that day to just sit there. I will heead over fairly early to get a decent spot but not all day.
oh--that's not what i meant. we aren't going to stay there all f'n day!! there are a lot of bands that we want to see on Sunday. but we'll start making our way during Clutch, i think. the crowd thins out big time in between bands---also, there will be a lot of people there for PJ, but Fri & Sat headliners usually draw larger crowds b/c so many people leave early on Sunday.
I'm just going to hang back until Pearl Jam is three or four songs into their set. Then I'm going to shove my way up to the front, the rest of you be damned.
everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do

I was there in '95. No way it will be that bad again. No way.
I'm actually anticipating a decent experience, based on what I've heard from people who have gone to ACL in the past.
But yeah, the '95 show (my first!) was insane. As soon as the first note hit, I found myself facing backward, pinned between a bunch of people and unable to move. It only got moderately better the rest of the show. It also didn't help that they started in the afternoon (so they could finish early and allow the venue people to clean up for REM the next night) and it was hotter than balls.

i wasn't there in 1995, but i have a few friends that went & they said that it was nuts. the ACL crowd doesn't get too rowdy...not to sound cheesy, but everyone seems to be there for the music & to have a good time. i can't fucking wait!!!

my first show too. i smoked a joint for the first time during the ramones set and when eddie walked on stage the place went ape shit and i had to be lifted out of the pit. the only things that really stand out were the heat, immortality and indifference. the rest is a haze.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

sorry---we're much bigger fans of the Heartless Bastards. after their set, we're heading back to the Barton Springs stage for Toadies, Dead Weather & Pearl Jam.

it's one of those conflicts that happens every year...we're fans of both bands, but we had to ask ourselves which one we'd rather see. and that's the Bastards.
I love seeing them live - Neil is an amazing front man, JP is a legend and Dan and Tim are solid guys too! They tour constantly which is also a bonus, Clutch and PJ are probably my 2 favourite live bands.
I'm missing them both, think of me when you're enjoying their shows!
I will try...I need to find a place where my view won't be block by a body .lol...Too short to be in the back, unless I stand elevated to see the stage...but I doubt there's such a place. :(
We plan on getting as close to the front as we can for the Toadies and staying put! Not having to travel for hours to see pj..........priceless!

I will! And if not my 38 year old body will crowd surf to the front!
There's a constant ringing in my ears
Sense of humor's void and numb
And I'm bored to tears.......
I wish I could do the front, just a bit much in that atmosphere though.

Have to say, though, I'm a little worried about getting pummelled. I'm a wee girl of 5ft. Crowd surfing=no fun if you ask me.
I agree...I will be with family that lives there and will have 7-9 with me. It would be nice if we could figure out to hook up before.

yeah---we've been talking about that a little bit. i think as the show gets even closer, we'll figure something out.
