Let's not paint some glorious picture for him.
this man was born into unbelievable wealth and instead of spending every day of his life sitting on a yacht somewhere he became a public servant was in the trenches fighting for the people that had nothing. he fought for civil rights, voter rights, people with disabilities, he was pro worker and pro union. he fought for the little guy. there is something to be said for that. he had to carry the torch for the father and three brothers that he lost, two that were murdered, and carry on as their legacy. that was an extreme amout of expectation to live up to, and some long shadows to stand in. i think he did alright by Joe, Jack, and Bobby and by the american people. his voice in the senate will be missed. rest in peace Ted, and thanks for all you gave to us. i am sorry that you will not get to see your dream of universal health care come true.
It's so easy to condemn a dead man isn't it. Where were you with all your thoughts when he was alive JB811? If those who condemn think he was such a poor human being, why didn't you do something to have him removed from the political office that he held for almost 50 years? Why? Because, you don't really give a fuck about Mary Jo. If you did, you would have made more of a fuss when Ted was alive instead of waiting for him to die. It is just soooo much easier to take potshots at him after he has passed away isn't it?
i cannot believe the venom already be spewed. Ted Kennedy was someone who could have so easily spent his life making money in the private sector. Instead, he chose to spend his life in public service trying his best to improve education, healthcare and the lives of people trying to live on a ridiculously low minimum wage. I am sure he spent many nights regretting the mistakes he made in his personal life, but I admire and respect the way he has tried to make a difference. How easy it would have been for him to waste the rest of his life away.
i lost my brother to a drunk driver. i loved him more than i can ever explain, i miss him every day of my life. nothing will ever bring him back, but as time has gone on, it's made a whole lot easier to bear because i hold onto the hope that the person responsible for his death, will lead a better life than they did before, much like Ted Kennedy. At least then, my brothers death would not have been in vain.
He fought so hard for the causes he believed in. Thank you Ted. RIP0 -
My thoughts on Ted Kennedy...
First, let's face facts: If he hadn't been a Kennedy, he never would have been a Senator, and he probably would have gone to jail for what happened at Chappaquiddick. Most of the Kennedy family is a bunch of spoiled brats, coasting off the business success of Joe Sr and the political connections he established with FDR and the Democratic party machine. Had to be said.
Ted is probably guilty of criminally negligent manslaughter, but I don't know if there's a way to prove it. Chappaquiddick has always been a source of morbid humor here in Mass, but at the same time Ted K has always been popular, getting re-elected every six years by wide margins, including the election that took place a year after Chappaquiddick. It's a weird thing I have admit, and even I would say there's something likable about the guy that makes you want to forgive him. The 2nd generation Kennedys all had that quality. The 3rd generation, however, blehhh. The Kennedy dynasty is over, and that's a good thing if you ask me.
Ted Kennedy has been our Senator here in Massachusetts since 14 years before I was born, so it's really strange that's he's gone.
In his later years, he became one of the more likable Kennedys. It was like he determined to prove himself worthy of his office. I heard many calls on talk radio today from people who are very thankful for the things he has done for them. He's done a lot for Massachusetts and he has been a big part of bringing progressive reforms to this country. But I'm not sure if he's been a good voice for liberalism. There's a reason Republicans brought him up so often.
RIP though, Teddy K.0 -

Well said. It is also amazing how he was willing to work with the other party to get bills passed, it's to bad these politicians don't work like he did. RIP.I have certain rules I live by ... My First Rule ... I don't believe anything the government tells me ... George Carlin

I don't think the Kennedy dynasty is over. There are about 100 of them.
Did you hear the Kennedy kids at the funeral?
