Inglourious Basterds

Just got back from seeing Inglorious Basterds. I thought it was a very solid film. It's definitely not for the faint of heart. It has several obvious Tarantino-isms. I liked the vocal cameos from Samuel L. Jackson and Harvey Keitel. I'd recommend it if you like his other films. Who else has seen it?

****NOTE: I used the search feature and didn't find anything so if there's already a thread...my bad.****

REALLY looking forward to this flick!
love all of tarantino's films, so i am sure to love this too. none of his work is for the faint-of-heart  that's for sure, and i wouldn't expect a film set in WWII wdirected by tarantino to be any different! probably be seeing it this sunday afternoon. didn't want to see it opening weekend, hate the opening crowds!
    Stay with me...

Even though it was fiction, as the son of a Holocaust survivor, I cheered during some of the violent killing scenes, and felt a bit empowered!

Yeah, without spoiling the movie, I think they got tired of seeing the same old Nazi movies with the same old ending. :D

film was talked about in the movie thread but glad you made a separate one ...

like i said in that thread i think there is an oscar for christopher waltz ... who plays hans landa ... to pull off 4 languages and his sinisterness hasn't been seen in some time since ralph fiennes in schindlers list ...

great film in my opinion ... it moves a bit slow and with 3 primary languages being used - you have to settle into this gem

Exactly! The reality will never change, but it was nice to experience a more favorable fantasy!

I think it was just briefly showing that they had a more than professional relationship. Wasn't she also bad at translations, which was her job? ...as if she was his translator not for her translating abilities?

    Absolutely loved it.

One of the best films I've seen in a long time. Christopher Waltz was amazing. The opening scene was so intense. Brad Pitt was really good too. When he was speaking Italian I almost cried with laughter!!

It's knocking on the door of my top 10 favourites of all time already.

See it on the big screen too. It's worth it.
I can't go the library anymore, everyone STINKS!!

it was just funny. that and when they introduced one of the bastards and the paper headline (i think that what it was) popped up. they just did not belong, yet they were perfect.

I loved it. I will have to see it again to find out where it ranks as far as my favorite Tarantino films. I will say that after seeing it I wish Tarantino would do a western, Sergio Leone-style. I think he could definitely bring something extremely interested to the genre of westerns.

I will go with JJJ on this. As a jew, there was something about it that was so awesome and fancy free! Great casting! Christopher Waltz has to get the Oscar. Brad Pitt is a great actor when he is not the center piece of the movie (12 monkeys, Fight Club and this).

There were parts that I had trouble with (like the final scene in the projection room) but all in all great great experience!

Ha! Me and some friends had this discussion the other day! Soooo much better when he's not the center of the movie. Good call.
