hahahahaha. i wirte exactly like a right-hander, just with my left hand, and my paper tilted to the right rather than left. i also have no leftie slant to my letters, cursive or print.
i will say tho, it IS amazing how utterly *frustrating* it has been at times, being taught things by right-handers. funny too, as an art teacher, i was keenly aware of handedness, made sure there were plenty of lefty scissors for the little tykes, and yes...whenever any of my students used their left-handedness as an *excuse* for anything, i was quick to point out i was a leftie too.
i *always* notice lefites....whether a waitress, in a shop, or even celebrities in movies. ha.
I'm lefthanded! I know what you mean about being taught things by people who are righthanded. I remeber back in high school gym we played golf at one time and I hated it. I won't play golf to this day because of it.

well i didn't notice obama was left handed until he was president and was signing a bill and i saw that familiar pose
one thing though...lefties are screwed when having to write with pencil...dragging your hand across the just written sentence...i'd come home from school and the outside of my hand was black from pencil lead

well to be fair, i never saw obama write until he was prez...so it makes sense.
and yes, man...i remember that! hahaha. in college i took drafting, and yea, we still drafted by hand with pencil and ruler back then, autocad was *just* coming out.....and i was worried of making a mess of my drawings. however, using harder lead, drawing on vellum, all was a-ok. :P
i've read all the life-shortening stats of being a leftie and the issues ans such....and i don't disbelieve em, but i am still happy to be a leftie. i had no choice in the matter, but i just like the edge.
*edit - notice obama wears his watch on his left hand? i used to do the same thing, growing up with all righties, i just followed what everyone else did. i only just in the past year or two switched it over to my right wrist. it felt odd for awhile, but definitely more comfy long-term.

yep i wear it on my left wrist too...when i got my first watch at like 7 years old (powder blue snoopy watch for my birthday!!!) my brother told me to wear it on my left wrist not realizing that i was left handed
My husband is a leftie...but his identical twin is a righty...that surprised me, but I guess it's only partially genetic.
why?
b/c they are identical twins?
just curious simply b/c any other sibling relationship, i doubt it would surprise anyone to have only one lefty in the family, especially a smaller family. my immediate family, i am the only leftie out of 3 girls. one of my aunts had 7 children, 2 lefties. but even for identical twins, they are not absolutely identical, and something like handedness, southpaws are definitely quite the minority, so to me...not at all surprising. i think i recall you mentioning what different personalities they have as well....goes hand in hand (pun intended )...with their different handedness.
yeah - I thought it was more based on genetics...but apparently not. I guess just like personality, it can be based on a lot of different factors. My brother is a lefty and I'm a righty...but I'm also about a foot shorter than him and we're clearly not identical :P

snoopy watch!
you're a great friend to have around norm...you remind me of my childhood.
christ, you're pushing 40 and you still listen to what your brother told you?
(yes...i only changed it up at 39 or 40 myself...it felt good and bold)
elana....yea, it is genetic, but as you say....it's a whole smattering of things that determine it.
I have always worn my watch on my right arm, can't imagine it on the left one. But maybe that is because my mom is left handed so I wasn't pressured to try wearing it on the wrong wrist.

ohhhh what a blessed childhood you must've had!
seriously, i cannot tell you just how many things my mother tried teach/show me how to do, and how utterly frustrating it was for us both....b/c 1. she's just not a great teacher 2. she had no idea how to adapt it for a leftie to do. however, i love her to bits anyway. growing up amongst all righties, and almost everyone in school being a rightie....definitely challenging! how about in college with all the right-handed desks!

well i haven't worn a watch in a few years...i don't like wearing rings, bracelets etc...it bugs me
but i got used to wearing a watch on my left and if i decide again to wear one i might try the right wrist...but with my dyslexia whenever i get left or right screwed up  i always go back to which wrist my watch is on which is left

i thought I saw ED writing lefthanded in the new promo video for backspacer!
But he plays guitar righty...?
Ironically, I am right handed, but play guitar lefty. Long, regretful story...
It sucks true, you go to a friends house and they have a cool guitar but it is for the right hander's so you can't play it.
Or that it is hard to find beginners guitars for lefties, or that it costs more for left handed Strats and Les Pauls.
But I am proud I play left, it is less common, it's just hard sometimes lol
