I sure hope not. You guys have no idea what it feels like right now. I am not here to be debbie downer but if anyone else is in the same boat, im a shoulder to cry on. I was on a 1.30 flight out of nyc. Sat on the runway for 2 hours. Came back. All flights to toronto ( i was told ) cancelled. No cities I could fly to that were close, no other new york airports with flights to toronto. 4pm was too late to take a train anywhere near there. Just a deflated person. I was looking forward to this day since I was able to click "buy" and get ten club seats to this show back during the announcement. I left work today just before noon with such a high- ready for the euphoria- this was the first satuday night pearl jam show i would have have seen since 1998- and my world just got turned upside down. i wasnt one of those airport flip out guys, i was just a deflated useless blob. so i apolgize 10 club, but i just need to vent a little. i guess i should be fortunate that this was probably the worst thing that has happened to me in about 5 years- if that is the case i am one lucky son of a bitch because theres bigger problems in the world than seeing a concert. but this wasnt just seeing a concert. this was seeing a band i love, in an ideal situation. i was so pumped. now i am a shell. i figured leavinf around 1pm wih no check on bags or anything ,even if the flight was majorly delayed, that i would still be able to cab it to the venue and rock out. boy was i wrong. i know a lot of us travel to see pj. i hope everyone else was able to get out earlier or idnt have to work a half day today. see you all in philly.

This is exactly why you never book a flight only a few hours before showtime. Flights get delayed and or cancelled all the time. If you had to fly out today you should have booked for an early morning flight. Always leave room for error.

yeah the lead singer (TL) of the opening bands flight was canceled as well. Therefore ED will be fronting the "Phramacists tonight instead of Ted Leo.

Did you call 10club to get a refund? I'm sure they'd refund since the flight was canceled they seem pretty reasonable.

youre right i thought leaving around 1 ish would have had me covered since i had to work at least a half day. it was the best i could do, and if it were to happen again in the future - id prob take the gamble again to be heartbroken rahter than not go at all- i just couldnt leave earlier...

I don't think this needed to be said at the time. I am pretty sure the OP realizes it.

flights were all cancelled bc of weather- oh well i am off the ledge- talking about it (even on the internet to a bunch of fellow 10 clubbers/strangers) really, really helped.

Its ok you guys are right- you shouldnt ever fly day of if you have to and you should always be there to make sure you get your tix. unfort us air travel its almost the norm for something to get f'd up and not the small exception- i just didnt have any other choice. but if anyone else can avaoid doing what i did, let me be a lesson then.

yeah, go easy on the OP. I know it's a prerequisite to talk down to people and show how smart we all are on message boards, but shit happens, and put yourself in his shoes for a minute.

do yourself a favor and dont look at the setlist for a few days (or weeks). just get away from it. or see if the airline will give you a voucher and let you fly to chicago. I missed the Vic show (through no fault of my own-stood outside for the whole show until I got in for the last 4 songs) and I listened to it once and refuse to listen to it again. it still hurts and I refuse to acknowledge that the show ever happened.

  • So sorry this happened to you! I'm sitting home now waiting for my Chicago flight - I'm 3 hours delayed. I wanted to go to Toronto so much but had to work today so I figured I'd get to Chi early.

August weather is notoriously dicey on the east coast so I figured if all else failed tonight I still had time to drive tomorrow!
    Why go home?

My friend flew into Buffalo. His plane sat on the tarmac in D.C. for 2 hours in sunlight. Just as the rain hit, they were cleared for take off.

He called me on the drive up to Toronto and was stuck in an hour plus of traffic crossing the border. If he is lucky he will make it in by the time PJ hits the stage, but it will be very, very close.

Another Ten Club member is taking his spare and she is sadly waiting at the arena for him.

Not as bad a situation as the OP, but he is stressing a little bit.

I heard about the weather up there, so I can understand all the delays.

I had a chance to go up to Toronto when offered a ticket a few weeks ago, and sadly had to say no. I can't stop thinking about being up there right now.

Nycrats - I feel badly for you things didn't work out today, but your story totally ended on a really high note -- that you'll see them in Philly. This story isn't ending here! ;) So, cheers, to a second chance! :)
