Mainstream sound?
More experimentation?
Something completely off the wall?
Mellow?
Hard rocking?
Punk?
Folk?

Avocado was more straight forward rock than the previous few albums.. I'm kind of excited to hear whatever is on their minds for the next venture..

ed said in some "into the wild" interview that the creative process behind writing that soundtrack was new ground for him and that it'll definitely find some footing during the band's next recording process. interesting......

While all the albums have been different in their own way the formula has pretty much remained the same throughout. Some slow, some mid, some fast/punky rockers. I don't really expect anything extremely different at this stage in the bands evolution. I wouldn't be suprised to see something even a bit more mainstream on the next one.

Whatever it is I look forward to the tour more than the studio release. I could careless if they ever recorded another studio album. Just play some new shit on tour and release the bootlegs.

He did and one of the most exciting things he has said in recent times imho. Me personally would love to see them roll back to the sound they created on songs like Sad, Down, Undone and possibly Fatal. I love that softer sound as much as I do the harder stuff they produce.

I expect something new honestly... maybe a little bit riot act touched with some hard hitting stuff.

Ummm, not so sure. I think what Ed may have been saying with regard to ITW was the actual structure of the songs along with the writing. Maybe that maybe a newish direction?? You of course could be right and if so, either is something to certainly look forward to.

whatever they feel happy doing, though I'd rather not have Riot Act 2 ;)

but more importantly a tour after that :p
  • I just wanna hear it at Alpine Valley. :D

    Every day with the Alpine...

not that i would have the faintest insight of what the future may hold (obviously) ~ but my gut tells me PJ will be exploring the more experimental and less commercial side of rock next time round. Maybe that's what my gut is hoping for....

whole-hella-alot. They are still great live, but in studio............

I'm expecting a mixture of mainstream (a little bit back to roots kind of thing), and then some experimentation.

if the songs are anything like the music that mike and jeff wrote for the background music in IIC then id love that. those weird little experimenty tracks were beautiful
  • it's gonna be fucking awesome!

i knows it's kinda weird, and it would have worked a lot better after Binaural was released, but I would really like them to go in a Pink Floyd-ish sort of direction. solid tunes with some experimentation mixed with some jams.
as much as i love eddie, and Into the Wild brought him to a new level for me, I like hte rest of the band just as much (if not more). Some of their earlier jams in songs like I Got a Feeling, and from today, Crazy Mary and RVM really get me excited because they are all such great musicians adn they bring hte energy. it would be great to see them jam out for a couple songs.
    peace

As much as i hate to say it...I really cant see PJ releasing another studio album. I mean, come on - they'll probably retire next year after a few gigs.

I'm always expecting them to revisit the groove-rock that they did on TEN, and less so on VS., alas they never do it...'Severed Hand' was a distant echo of that career making groove, but I don't expect they'll ever lay it out there like they did on TEN, though many people would be real happy if they did...I'm down with whatever they do...I love 'em live, and listen to the boots as much as the studio album, but new music is the catalyst for everything...the minute they stop putting fresh tunes into the ether they are a nostalgia act, and I don't ever want that to happen...Even the Stones still make a record to tour on...Now you may not listent to 'A Bigger Bang' as much as you listened to Tattoo You, or my favorite, 'Exile on Mainstreet' but I think it's incredibly important fo the band to keep creating...
