SUPERSONIC - The view from the pit!
I've just put my video of Supersonic at the O2 Arena up on Youtube. It's a bit blurry in places because I was in the pit, right in front of Mike, but you get a pretty good feeling about the vibe of the song. I've watched it a few times now and I really like it, it's got an awesome breakdown in it!

After a few SBE videos were pulled from Youtube last week I PM'd Kat and Sea a few hours ago to make sure this was ok. They haven't replied but if this gets pulled I guess that's fair enough. It was the first time this song has been played after all so enjoy it while you can!

Glad you had a good time, but man...that song sucks ass!
Good god, I hope they just f'ed it up live...because that is terrible!0 -
i think its a tipping of the hat to the ramones...... :!:0
-
Definitely, and there's nothing wrong with that!
So what if doesn't have the lyrical depth of some of their other songs, it's fun live and I think it'll be in their sets for a while once Backsapcer is out. They played 'Leaving Here' too and they have a similar "jump around and have fun at a show" kind of vibe and that's a good thing!“Do not postpone happiness”

its a cute b-side. to be honest i already forgot it.
it will be fun live.0 -
i kinda feel like im listening to a random cover for the first time. sounds more like a bside than an album track0

That might be my favorite song so far!.. Are you not a fan of the Ramones??? do you not like punk???
Are you being sarcastic? I'm trying to figure this out because your statement confuses me. That song ROCKS!!!0 -
Nice. Looks like a great live number and a lot of fun for them.0
-
Definitely digging this one. Have at least liked all the songs I have heard so far and loved three of them! That's a good sign!!0

OK... "tip of the hat to the Ramones"... it almost sounds like it was pulled straight off of a Ramones album.
I agree w/ the poster who said it sounded like a cover. It absolutely does. With a Mankind riff thrown in to boot. B-side material.
I think I agree with everything that's been said about this song in this thread... except the parts about it being awesome.
It's a fun number at a show, I guess. I think they could have come up w/ something better to take up time on a 36-minute disc, tho. (maybe 39, i forget what the final word is)- 98 Pgh

You all need to stop huffing paint. This is a good song.0

now we know why they banged out this album so quickly....doesn't seem like Ed invested too much time in the lyrics..."fun song"...isn't that what people said about the fixer?
I have a feeling Riot Act & Binaural will get more love after Backspacer is released...at least by certain fans who aren't as big on "pop/fun" type songs.0 -
Best song from backspacer thus far and I've loved everything I've heard. That is one wild punk song that tips it's hat to a lot of the bands those guys have loved from the punk rock era - but is still fresh and sounds like pearl jam kicking arse and enjoying it.
The Pearl Jam of 2009/10 is not the PJ of the 90s. I'm glad, I really dont want to hear a new 10 or vs (the remasters are enough), I want what they feel like doing now - you can really follow this band's 'buzz' in each album and to me, this new material sounds like they are really having fun and at ease with themselves and each other and ready to make great rock albums and experiences for us, for a long time to come. That they can blast out a kick arse punk song like this in their 40s shows up blink182 and those other 'punk' bands as wannabes (and I'm not dissing them blink182 et al).
That song is a mosh pit mahem. Slip that in with Go, DTE, Lukin and RVM and you'd have a pretty explosive five play of songs (Kick arse 1st encore for perth - hint?).
Can't wait for LA3, LA4 and Perth (nov 14). These gigs are going to go off!0
