I doubt Melbourne or Sydney will sell out. And how about the size of The Fixer sections? It's freakin' huge. I'm not looking forward to dealing with that many fools in a GA setting.

Yes, but Chugg is going to promote the hell out of them this time. More so than Coppell ever did. Through Foxtel, iTunes, Facebook, MySpace and so on. I think those tickets will sell out with the heavy promotion. They won't all go at once, but they'll go eventually. This is going to be huge!! I feel it in my bones... :D:D:D:D Plus the radio and tv (commercial stations). Just happened to turn on the radio this morning and the first thing I heard was a promotional discussion on PJ and the Fixer to follow. That's a damn good sign, 'cos last time that particular radio station didn't do a very good of promoting them, imo. My kids have seen a tv advertisement for them a few times already. I say BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!

"More than 30,000 tickets to the Sydney Football Stadium concert on November 22 were sold yesterday, with up to 15,000 still available."

That is flipping massive! This gigs going to be awesome.

I read two weeks ago........In the two weeks AFTER 10c presales, 21,500 tix were sold for Perth.
I thought ' what tha ' because the stadium website says the capacity is 18,000.
I looked at the stadium site again after this, and it sort of says ' also room for 8000 standing. (" Nose Bleeds")
So if anyone can tell ME what the number of Tix sold and capacity for Perth, I will be greatful.
  • I can't see any reason why most of these shows won't be sell outs or close sell outs, they usually play 3 Melbourne & Sydney shows which equates to approx 45,000 people, okay so some go to multiple shows but with the extra pulling power of Ben Harper and to a lesser extent Liam Finn this could help push up sales.

I've done a little research on this but haven't come up with a whole lot, be nice to here how the NZ shows are selling.

    Re the Brisbane show:

"A second release of tickets for Pearl Jam ’s November 25 outdoor stadium show will go on sale 9am Tuesday August 25.

Gold and Silver seated tickets at QSAC Stadium sold out in two days, leading to the introduction of new lower priced tickets in the previously excluded Northern grandstand.

A limited number of general admission standing tickets in the Backspacer Field remain available.

Pearl Jam’s special guests for their Australian shows are Ben Harper and Relentless7.

    Tickets $69.90 – $123.90 on sale this Tuesday – www.ticketek.com.au or 132 849."

Hey, I found this re the Perth Show

"For sporting fixtures Members Equity Stadium is capable of accomodating up to 18,156 patrons. For cultural and artistic events the playing field is capable of accomodating up to 18,000 patrons (not including surrounding seating)."

    http://www.mebankstadium.com.au/si_fac.html

So from this the total capacity for a concert at Members Equity is 36,156, however, who knows what the capacity is for the PJ show. Where did you read 21,500 tix had been sold, got a source just as a matter of interest?

    Thanks for the info.....still confusing.
I got the info from the STM mag inside 'The Sunday Times' news paper Aug 30.
  • looking on ticketek and ticketmaster, does not seem to be much left, all fields sold out, and gold seats only scatted single seats.

  • Will be killer shows. Pity QSAC in Brisbane is an average stadium at best. The seats are a long way from the ground.

In Auckland, there are only tickets in the back half of the field left, who knows how many though.
In Christchurch, there are tickets all over the place but they are generally poor quality. The field isn't divided, so there are still GA tickets but the best seats I could get were right at the edge or the back of the stand so I'd say it's selling pretty well considering.

Last time they played in 98 they played the same venue in Auckland and a small venue in Wellington. They might have sold out Wellington (5k?), but not Auckland so it's pretty impressive that it looks as if they'll hve a good showing for two stadium shows in New Zealand this time, and it's still two months away.

they sold out wellington within 3 days... the capacity of queens wharf (now tsb arena) is 5K, but they ended up finding space for 500 extras and sold those out straight away.

I wouldn't have thought that'd be a big ask for most decent bands though, right? Especially if they're not playing the South Island. Anyway, AMI is heaps bigger than Queens Wharf, so that's awesome selling! Are they more popular now than 1998? I wouldn't have said so, but maybe the nostalgia is kicking in for some?

I realise that, since there is no Wellington show to sell out this time. I was comparing the sales in 98 to the sales this year and wondering if that meant PJ are more popular now than they were then.

Wow, that suprises me I would've thought Sydney and Melbourne would've showed the strongest sales. On the PJ tour TV Chuggy mentions 40k a night which rings true with the capacities for the South American stadium shows in 2005.
