What a vacation! First time flying across an ocean. Waikiki. North Shore surf competion. Unripe passion fruit. Mai Tai's. Pre-show at Busters. Sunsets. Sea Turtles. Spam and Rice. Wiamanalo. Hui Malama O Kei Kai. Pink Flocked Christmas tree on top of a car. Meeting Foxymop and her crew. Red eye back to the cold.

And the most memorable show!!!!

i was thinking about this yesterday as well... i did miss the 12/2 show cause i started my trip in Maui... but i made it to the 12/9 show opening for U2...

what a great vacation and even better memories.

Awesome show. The fellas were all rested up from having been on Oahu recreating for a while. They had that Island vibe going ("hang loose brah"). The cake for Matt, the flying cake (!), the kids from Boom's hometown, the military people in the audience, Kelly Slater's bald head in front of me half the night, Ed climbing things, Stone jammin' while laying on the floor, Ed just wanting to go on and on. One of the most fun, memorable shows out of the nearly 3 dozen I've been to over the years.

I went to the U2 show on 12/9 and have been thinking about it for a few days. What a great decision that was, although I should have gone on 12/2. I wish this was an annual event. Pre-Christmas in Hawaii with Pearl Jam.

i forgot all about tonight being the 1-year anniversary of the show until a friend i met up with there reminded me last night. i got a sweet last-minute deal for that trip; i didn't even book my flight until the tuesday of the week of the show. that show is in the top 3 of the 26 times i've seen them. so glad i went.

One of the best days ever...
Started late for breakfast, chilling out, feeling like a private beach, driving around the island, walking up Diamond Head, blind tunnels, seemingly endless stairs, Deb driving (or not?), hooking up with the big man, "Star Wars," finding parking, laughing in line, to poster or not to poster, the best seats in the house to one of my favorite shows ever, butterflies & zebras & moon beams , . . . trying to find food in Honolulu after midnight, the McDonalds where Dog eats , munching on the balcony at 2am and falling asleep to the sound of the waves.

Very nice pics, takes me right back there. Your first pic looks like it was taken very near to our condo. Waikiki Shores, next to Ft DeRussy park and the Outrigger.

This will be the first year since 2003 that we're not spending time in Hawaii at or just before Christmas. I love Christmastime in Hawaii. We usually go to Maui but last year we made an exception so that we could go see a couple of upstart bands play on 12/2 and 12/9.

What an amazing trip Hawaii was.

Booked it on a whim 2 weeks in advance, got some awesome 10C seats from another member who couldn't make it.

After 18 shows of praying for "Oceans" and not getting it, I now understand why... I was meant to hear it in Hawaii.

me and NY PJ1 have been discussing the hawaii show all year long!!! it was by far thee greatest surprise birthday present EVER. I've always wanted to go there and be in attendance for the pipemasters surf competition AND see the boys there. it FINALLY happened. Every single day i was there, i felt i was living my dream. i can say that i completely reached my happiness level. It was really somethin for ME to hear BIG WAVE during BIG WAVE season IN hawaii!!!!
