How long before this site crashes?

Soon I'm sure... With Vancouver BC, Portland and possibly another like Vegas which has been rumored it won't be long. I just hope we get a specific on-sale time and they don't pull a Chicago/Toronto and just put them up.

considering that the biggest major metropolitan area to the venue is Portland..one would assume this show was for the people in that region.

I think people are spending time refreshing the main page hoping for the announcement. I know I'm not exactly getting much work done... I wish they let us know soon, so I can either buy tickets or know when to come back and buy tickets.

And yeah. This news made my morning/day/week!!

Question for those in the area. Will I probably need a car rental if arriving at Portlands airport or will I be able to manage with pucblic transpo?
    thanks.

    also, were to stay?
  • ranger800ranger800 Posts: 112
I would say to get a rental car. Not sure of the public transportation to that venue since I'm not familiar with Washington public transportation. Here is a link that talks about public transportation to the venue though, http://www.amphitheateratclarkcounty.co ... rvice.html

As to where to stay, you could pick a hotel in either Portland or Vancouver, WA and be fine. The venue is only about 20 minutes north of Portland.

thanks. As for staying in Portland or Vancouver, Wa., which would be best having not been to either? I will be naming my own price on priceline and want to choose one or the other.

i think the show is closer to Portland. I think. Portland would be the place to stay if thats the case. As for what hotel to stay at, I will let others chime in for that one

Vancouver is like a 3 min drive to the Venue. But Vancouver, WA sucks. We Portlanders call it VanTucky for a reason.

Stay in Portland, nicer hotels, restaurants and a million more things to do.

I will let you out of towners know that transportation to/from the Amphitheater is a pain in the ass. There is one road in and that same road lets everyone out. No alternate route. On more than one occasion, I've sat in that parking lot afterwards for an hour or two just trying to get to the nearby freeway and getting there isn't any easier if you arrive too close to the event time.

I'm mentioning this because there is a shuttle bus that takes you to/from a nearby park and ride that costs like $5 for the round trip.

The amphitheater also provide this type of special parking called "yes" parking. You basically print out this sign from their website and you get expedited parking and exiting. You have to have 4 people or more in your car to do this. No guarantee, but when I was there for Coldplay we were let out in 10 minutes.

Anyway, here's the link to the amphitheater's website.

The venue doesn't allow tailgating, but if you behave yourself, they don't hassle you. We even discretely kicked back some beers and didn't get in trouble.

The venue itself is out in the country somewhat, a 5-10 minutes drive from Vantucky (where I live), there is only one restaurant/bar in the area. So, you will want to plan your prefunctioning accordinly.

is the nearby park you speak of the regarding the shuttle "salmon creek park and ride"
    ?

    it is.

    ALSO!

One more thing about hotels, if you are just coming to Portland/Vancouver for the show and not doing any site seeing in Portland, there are hotels within about 10 minutes of the amphitheater and the aforementioned park and ride, but there isn't really jack squat to do by them. :D

If anyone wants that information, I'm happy to pass it along.
  • Thanks for the tip on the YES program. At least the show is on a Saturday, no dreaded I-5 north traffic. For those of you who cannot achieve "YES" status (having at least 4 people in your vehicle) I would recommend spending the money for the premier parking. Otherwise you will spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to get out of the venue.
