A reunion between Dave A. & Eddie......

Just throwing this out there, but suppose there were some sort of public reconciliation at say, one of the upcoming shows; Matt steps aside for a little bit and then Dave comes on to rip through a few classics for about 10-15 mins. I'm sure most of us wouldn't mind hearing Dave on WMA , Corduroy or any of the pre-no code era material live like the good old days.

That would be an epic moment in PJ history!

Haha, great analogy. Of course it won't happen, but if it did don't you think it would provide a little closure? I don't know......

  • I'm not the biggest Dave fan when it comes to music, but I do think this would be nice if both sides were willing. I'm not sure Dave would want to do this either. Some sort of reconciliation would be nice so that when R&R HOF comes knockin all members of Pearl Jam could be there and happy.

It wouldn't mean too much to me. I liked Jack Irons playing with them during a show in 2003 in Santa Barbara.

Even bring back Jack Irons and Dave K and Matthew Chamberlain.

Hell, I think it was 2000 when Jack drummed with PJ for a song or two at a live show. I guess anything can happen.

Jack played with them briefly at two shows in 2003. He played on RITFW in LA on June 3rd and on Hail, Hail and In My Tree at Santa Barbara on October 28th.

Yeah that'd be sweet. Dave is/was the best drummer for PJ.

That would be awkward and stupid. I'd feel bad for Matt.. They only did it with Jack because he was responsible for the formation of the band, good friends with everyone and isn't playing now because of health issues.

Dave was an asshole. I'm glad they fired his ass. 15 years and counting for his very brief time with the band.. good riddance!

Besides, Matt can do everything he did, but better.
  • Dave was an asshole. I'm glad they fired his ass.

    Or was Eddie the asshole?
Besides, Matt can do everything he did, but better.
Don't see many people on here complaining about Daves drumming, but many complaining about Matts. So...

So maybe he wasn't an asshole. For your sake, lets assume he wasn't, but he obviously he didn't fit socially with the band.. there aren't threads complaining about Dave because he left the band FIFTEEN years ago..

While there are threads complaining about Matt, there are also threads complaining about everything current with the band. Thats what people like to do here.

    Thats true :)

No one knows what happend, but for the sake of arguing :) Based on the book 5 against 1 I think Mike and Stone didn't have problems with Dave. But Ed had because he wanted someone else from the getgo and couldn't control Dave and Jeff because he and Ed are the assholes in the band :)

Exactly! I'd like to poll everyone. I'm pretty sure the consensus would be somewhat anti-Matt.

    Here we go again...

The way I see it, it would be cool (and I know it won't happen but still...) that PJ does what NOFX did. I read somewhere that they invited all the members that were with the band and had them playing the songs on the albums they were on. In this case, I guess we could have a show that would sound like this?! (For a benefit or something like this...)

    Release (Krusen)
    Even Flow (Krusen)
    Jeremy (Krusen)
    Black (Krusen)
Alive (Chamberlain... just because he was in the video and he looked fuckin cool!)
    Go (Abbruzzese)
    Alone (Abbruzzese)
    Daughter (abbruzzese)
    Animal (Abbruzzese)
    W.M.A. (Abbruzzese)
    Immortality (Abbruzzese)
    Hail Hail (Irons)
    Brain of J (Irons)
    Who You Are (Irons)
    No Way (Irons)
    Given to Fly (Irons)
    In my Tree (Irons)
    Habit (Irons)
    Nothing As It Seems (Cameron)
And so and so and so...

You guys get the idea! Oh, and at the end, you get all 5 drummers with their respective drum kit and play on Rockin in the Free World!!!!!!!!!!

    TAKE THIS PHIL COLLINS!

Are you high? Anti-Matt Cameron? Are you serious? Matt Cameron is one of the greatest drummers to ever sit at the kit for Pearl Jam next to Jack Irons. Anti-Matt? That's a joke. That's like being anti-Jack Irons.

Did anyone ever think they've changed drummers because it changes the chemistry and sound of the entire band on all the songs?
    Things were different then

Actually I am Hahaha...... But seriously, I didn't mean it as anti-Matt like he was completely ass, just that people prefer everything that came out prior to him coming on board full-time. The sound just hasn't been the same. And Jack Irons was nasty too, I don't think anyone here is debating that.

As much as some people would like to see one or all of the former drummers for Pearl Jam sit in on a song or two, Matt Cameron is the drummer for the band now. I think it would be a disrespect to him for any one of them sitting in, unless like someone posted before, it was at something like the HOF induction. The induction would be honoring the band "Pearl Jam", which includes all members past and present, at which time they should be invited by the current members to attend.

its funny how many Dave A haters there are despite knowing absolutely nothing about him. wouldn't want to upset the band, now would we!?

at least he hasnt written 6 of the 10 shittiest PJ songs.

Matt the drummer: good. Matt the songwriter: a cancer.

  • they will have to at the very least acknowledge him when they get inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame.

not saying he should go in with them, be on stage with them during the ceremony or play with them, but if he doesn't get some sort of shout out when the day comes, it will just be classless.
i have a paper here that entitles me to fast track status
  • Dave was good... MATT IS BETTER..
and Dave was kind of a rock star tool.. unlike any other member of the best band in the world..imo of course..
