It doesn't seem like it is, but is Riot Act anyone's favorite album? It is my least, but there gotta be at least one person who loves it more than any of the others.

You out there?

It's my friends favorite Pearl Jam album. I think maybe because it was the album that was coming out when I got him back involved with the band. He hadn't been an active fan since Vs. Then he and I started hanging out around then, and he kinda caught some of the PJ bug from me, and to this day, he looks back and says that is his favorite PJ album.

can't really say it's my favorite, but it's definitely up there. i can say i think it's their best album since no code. 2003 was one of the best tours and i think that riot act translates extremely well live. 1/2 full and save you are two of my favorites to hear at a concert.

  • My favourite. Love the sound and atmosphere to it. Some songs might be flawed by Eddies "just woke up"-voice, but most of them benefit from it.

My second favourite is Binural. Love the albums that has the atmoshphere and "warm" sound.

My least favourites are Avocado, No Code and Yield. Can't be many who agree :)

I feel the same way! I love it lyrically, but musically, it's not among my favourite albums. I don't hate it, but I certainly don't throw it on like I do the other albums.

It's not my favorite, but I think out of all the albums it was the one I listened to the most when it first came out. It's very unique.

I love it! I can't put it above No Code or Binaural, which seem to alternate my top spot everyday, but it is way up there for me.

Well I don't think it's the best since No Code, but I totally agree when you say that it translates well and that 1/2 Full, and Save You are great in concert. You Are is one of my favorite tunes to hear live.

Not so sure about this. and I'm not that big of an Avocado fan so i'm not gonna argue that it's better than Riot Act....but I'm definitely not one for this "anyone who disagree is wrong" sort of talk. I mean if you said "Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy blows Limp Bizket's Significant Other out of the water. anyone who disagrees is wrong," fine.

But this thread has insprired me to throw in Riot Act for the first time in a while which is cool.

  • i've finally realized why Riot Act just doesn't work for me, and it isnt the songs. Most of the songs, especially live, are great. Its just that on the days they recorded the album, they were performed really badly. i think they needed more rehearsal time. Especially Ed. his delivery is just bad. he sounds tired, depressed and like he just doesnt give a shit anymore. I wish they would just re-record this album but i doubt that will ever happen.

I made a live Riot Act CD and i really love it.

I love this album, and fail to see why it doesn't get more love. Songs like 1/2 Full, I heard that yesterday and thought how much it rocks. Yet people bag it for reasons I cant understand. My kids love Riot Act as well.

It is my favorite now. it took a while, but the older I got, the more I appreciated it. Love Boat, Save Me, and I am Mine or brilliant. I always end up going to this album. I find it enlightening and reflective. I think the album sounds very unproduced and I think Eddie shines vocally.

got lotta love for riot act. strong throughout with no throwaways, so i find it easy to listen from beginning to end. it has so many of my favorites. can't keep keep is such an atmospheric mellow lead in with great lyrics "i want a last breath that i don't let out. forgive every being. the bad feelings. it's just me". you are has such a groovy psychedelic guitar effect. years ago, i had kind of fell off the PJ wagon after yield until after a new backpacking acquaintance had mentioned that he loved binaural and riot act. i went back and listened to them again and have been an addict since. long live riot act.

I agree with you 100%. Eddie's vocals just fall really flat on it. It's hard to get excited about an album the band itself wasn't excited about.

What tracklist do you have for the live Riot Act CD? I'm nowhere near a hardcore bootleg collector/listener, so I have no clue what's good and what's not.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!
